OK so i am running windows vista.... and every time i load eve client i get pinged to hell and back and i drop and lose connection to everything that i have connected to the internet. I am not familiar with vista's way of setting up a connection, more familiar with xp tbh. anyhow the connection will drop from time to time on its own and i have to reset my wireless card, even then it will only connect to local and say there is no internet. i think it might also be a problem with the switch in my flat but i cannot go to it out. also it seems i acquire lag over time and then it goes back to normal for a few seconds (if it doesn't drop).
This thing is turning into a huge headache if anyone can gimme some input i would greatly appreciate it. thanks for your time.

Based on your symptoms, look at your router/switch/Internet connection. What ISP are you using, out of curiosity.
The EVE client hardly uses any bandwidth in most situations, certainly nothing that would account for your symptoms. |

I had trouble with my internet for a while, around what time of day would you say it tends to happen?
I rung up my ISP and they put me on a less busy 'channel' (don't ask lol) since then it does seem to be better..
Also had similar problem with WAR, of whihc I needed to adjust firewall settings to let the game through..
Also a few little simple things, like run as administrator (odd that you have to click this sometimes for the programme to run like that even if you are the admin)
I think thats what helped with my problem anyway, was a while ago now hope this helps in some way |

Seems like they switched the channel your wireless uses in your router settings, which keeps interference from nearby wireless routers from effecting your signal since you are not using the same frequency sort of speak.
Sounds like this could be the same reason that is causing grief for the OP (perhaps it happens with eve more b/c it sends consistent data?). An easy way to check for this is downloading the program Net Stumbler (http://www.netstumbler.com/downloads/) which will give you a readout of nearby wireless networks and what channel they are operating on. If a lot of them use the same channel, then it's as simple as going into your router settings and changing that channel.
I know a few times I've had problems were wireless would barely work correctly with multiple disconnects throughout the day, even a few feet from the router until I went into the settings and changed them. |
