Amazing how both games that have problems are nvidia sponsored ones. Similar as with EVE getting a lot more issues with AMD cards after they jumped in to bed with nvidia.
Perhaps we need everyone with AMD to tell CCP to go to hell so they actually start doing their work. |

Yea CCP needs to say something like we know about the problem and are on it instead of just saying put in a bug report. |

Perhaps we need everyone with AMD to tell CCP to go to hell so they actually start doing their work. Except this problem is manifesting with nvidia cards as well. The frustrating thing is it is not just the card. People with similar cards are having differnet results. Some are experiencing this freeze problem some are not.
I personally have a desktop and a laptop with nvidia cards. The lappy is running along fine with eve. The desktop is fubarred with freezes with eve since one of the early follow up patches to inferno.
Plus one to having some dev make a post saying they know they have a widespread freeze problem and are searching for the disagreement between the client and the video cards of those affected. I doubt it is driver specific as both my machines are running the same nvidia latest beta driver. So it may have to do with specific settings on the cards or maybe it is just part the ongoing memory leak problems the game has had. Really would be nice to have some official indication that someone is investigating. |

....always wondered about nVidia users logic If a game is optimised for particular hardware, its logical that rival hardware will be at a disadvantage and will be crashing.
But if piece of hardware is crashing in OS or driver destroys your card then blame HW manufacturer. GÇ£If reality can destroy the dream, why shouldn't the dream destroy reality?GÇ¥ |

Drivers must not allow hardware to crash even if the software is not optimized for this type of hardware, thats by far no reason or justification for it to crash or even freeze the entire system. Because of this I got rid of AMD sh*t, they are apparently ignoring problems and keep distributing broken freezing drivers.
yeah you're absolutely right, nvidias fault in this case |

if you've been paying attention to this thread at all, which you haven't, you would have noticed that its a driver issue in conjunction with a series of sockets from intel chips that were released before pci-e 3.0, which is what the 7xxx series are. if it was strictly a gpu driver problem, windows would blue screen/restart instead of a hard lock, which indicates a problem with the CPU as well.
so by your logic you should have also stopped using your intel chip. unless of course you are using an AMD chip, which would make you a complete hypocrite. |

So by your logic, when a virus crashes a pc, the hardware vendor is to blame.

I'm also having this issue with my system as is a friend of mine with exactly the same components (see below).
Eve always locks up during combat, no response from the system at all forcing a hard reboot. Sometimes it will run for hours without a problem, other times it will crash within seconds of combat starting...
No problems with any other application or games and the system has been 100% stable otherwise.
Intel Core i7-9390K Gigabyte GA-X79 UD3 (LGA-2011) 16GB Quad channel DDR3 Gigabyte HD 7970 Windforce Edition - Catalyst 12.7 Samsung UA40EH6000M @ 1920x1080 via DVI Windows 7 64bit Home Edition OS installed on OCZ 120GB SSD Eve installed on 1TB Seagate Barracuda
Is it possible to relocate the Eve cache away from the SSD and point it to another drive? - Edit: found an unofficial way to do it here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=34262 |

I'm also having a similar problem when I run 2 clients. 1 client will randomly freeze for about 45 seconds whenever I query the Eve server in some way< but not every time. It may be the map or show info on another toon or check the market etc. This issue started with the last patch for me. My cursor will freely move but the Eve client that freezes will turn white as the notification warns me the program has stopped responding and do I want to close it or wait for it to respond. I usually hit wait and 45 seconds later its back.

Add me to the list. System freezes (not BSOD) only while playing Eve. Dual-clients or opening the map tends to make it worse.

It's not just ATI cards, or the admitted age of my hardware either, and as far as I know, not a driver issue. It's only started since patch 1.2.6.

This is NOT a fix, but I went into CCC and underclocked my card to 880 Mhz and used EVE's optimize settings set to Performance and so far no freezes.
As said, this is NOT a fix, but a possible work-around. I really hope this gets fixed soon... I miss the missile effects. |

It might actually be the minimal settings fixing it, My 9750's default Is 810Mhz. |

I received a reply to a petition from GM Retrofire that I lodged a couple of days ago suggesting the I try the following;
Reset the 3D settings in the Catalyst Control Panel to default: No change Change the Preset Interval setting in EVE to default: No change Lower the Anti Aliasing settings in EVE: Success!
Lowering the AA made no difference, but disabling it did and my wingie (with the exact same hardware) and I have run for 2 days straight now with no crashes... Jaggy edges are ugly and doing my head in, but EVE seems to be stable without AA on, so I'll live with it for now. As long as we're not going into combat though, we can both happily run AA on the high settings without issues.
So thanks for the fix, but please help us make EVE as pretty as she can be CCP, good luck to the other ATI/AMD users

Doesn't work for me unfortunately (AA was already disabled).
Trying now with Interval default...
do you have a newer cpu socket or an older model? afaik this particular issue only happens with older sockets (i.e. I have an i7 920 @ 2.67GHZ)...
