Flammard - As a recent convert from PC's to Mac's I've only just discovered this application of yours. Superb work! I will give as much testing support as I can.
Thanks for this; it looks like I may be able to ditch my knackered old PC, which I only keep for EveMon, once and for all.

Edited by: Blasphemour on 17/10/2009 09:37:18 Just found out that if you go to preferences and change something in the skill planner option, everything shows up again. if this was already posted, sorry!
Edit: Thing that is still kinda bugging me, when I close the app and relaunch it, it thinks that the skill I'm training only just started. For example, I am training Caldari Cruiser IV now and it has about 23 hours to go. It shows this on the character sheet as well. But in the training queue and the skillplanner it shows it has about 4 days to go. If I knew how to make a screenshot (macbookpro? anyone?) I would if needed ;)

- Command-Shift-3 shortcut for taking a screen capture of your entire screen
- Command-Shift-4, which gives you a crosshair cursor so you can choose which area of the screen you want to capture
- Control-Command-Shift-3 (or 4), which, instead of creating a file on your desktop, copies the capture into your Clipboard memory, so you can paste it where you want.

a cool feature also is, command-shift-4 to bring up the crosshair, then press the spacebar the cursor now turns into a camera icon, and you can highlight entire windows and it'll take a screenshot of just that window - saves having to try and select the whole thing and also includes the shadow behind it -- ---

I have just noticed something that bugs me ever since spotting it...
When you open the skill planner and open a plan, you can't close it again.
If I open a plan by mistake, I can't then close it. This isn't a huge problem until you start trying to open more plans than you can fit in the width of the window.
Is there any way to close the plans? If not, can I suggest being able to right-click on the little tab and get options to close, rename or delete, failing that, double-clicking on the plan to close it again would be cool.
Other than that, loving this app.

You can't at the moment. It's one of those things I've been meaning to fix, but never gotten around to. I did experiment with adding an X to click on to close the plan, but I never got it working properly. I'll have a look at getting it working again.
EDIT:
I've fixed this up now in the 16.1 release. Download that and give it a go. If the automatic updater doesn't work for you then see the first post. Instructions to fix it are there.

That is absolutely brilliant, thanks!
Loving being able to close my plans again, means I don't feel so bad about having 20 plans open and no idea what I am doing next.

I love it! Thanks. Anything that gets me one step farther away from Windows is a Good Thing.
How about a feature request?
It would be nice to have a column for notes: " Why did I add this skill? Oh! I wanted that oddball drone for such-and-such." Not all of us have the skills and prerequisite trees memorized yet. ;-)
Keep up the great work!

Yep, I seem to recall that this feature has been requested before. I'll add a notes feature and I'm also working on a few other UI enhancements that will hopefully make the planner easier to use.

Crossover.
runs without a hassle, and like all mac apps, just do a drag here, a drop there and run EFT.

Flammard- Thank You.
My PC failed me for the last time in August and I went Mac.
It has been a remarkably easy transition, everything works like they say it will and the first time. I'm sure though having used a Mac for a while...this is not news and your only reasonable response to my ramblings is "Duh" :-)
The only thing I did miss was EveMon, and learning that they don't have a Mac version- nor do they have any intention of creating one...
I guess I also have the Leopard OS- so I'm not sure what I am missing without the Snow Leopard version. However, even in this state your program is close enough to give me that extra game dimension that I was missing. Thanks Again!
I wish I could offer some technical things- but until yesterday I didn't know there were two different OS systems for the Mac, nor the real difficulty in transitioning windows based databases for Mac use. You seem to be on the right path though. Keep up your efforts and thanks again.

Edited by: oemcee Picasso on 13/11/2009 15:15:56 This is a really helpful tool for us Mac users. KUDOS for your work, and thank you!
I will add that for those of us who "work" on Macs, jumping into an OS update/upgrade is not something we do lightly. ALL my apps must first work in the new OS, and if you are a "professional" it can be an expensive investment. It needs to be done when the time is right, and the money is available. Not all of us are kids just using a "gaming" machine.
This said, thanks for giving us a Leopard version. It could be awhile before I can upgrade to Snow Leopard due to the apps I use not being SL safe yet.
BTW, when I opened my MacEveApi [14.5] yesterday, my alt toon would not update and it said it was not training. I downloaded the app and replaced it in my application folder. It's now working again.

Fair enough, But I don't have access to a Leopard machine for testing any more. I've had a few strange bugs crop up on Leopard but not Snow Leopard and I can't test for them. It makes for a support headache.
If I had someone that was willing to maintain a Leopard version then it could be made to work again. I've had a few people contact me about it, but no one has followed through yet.

I dunno if this has been already suggested, as I didn't read all the pages of this post. First of all, great app so far, glad to see that it's been open sourced.
I'd like to be able to train things up to a specific level. Like right now, my Production Efficiency is lvl 1 and I'd like to see how long it would take me to get to lvl 5. Also, would be nice to have in the plan, as some 'goals' aren't just getting to a new skill, but getting certain skills up to a high level.

Ok, 1st things 1st....
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! It's only the beginning but I can tell already that you've got a whole host of loyal fans grateful for such a great program. It's one of the programs that I used most on Windows, and now it's (sort of mostly) here on OSX.
I've a couple of ideas that have probably already been thought of but I'll put my own 2-pence in;
1 - an item database. Not too fussed about the cost of an item, can find that out at Eve-Central (although taking the median price from it would be nice...!) but I do want to know if I can use it with my skills. So I'd love to be able to say, "I want to fly an Orca! What do I need?" and then being able to add the necessary skills to a plan and follow it. Maybe it could go in the other half of the button that says 'SKILLS' and takes you to a blank list...
2 - skill certificates. As above, it would be great to see what certificates are available, what you already have, and being able to add the ones you don't have to a plan.
That's it for the moment - I'll let you know when I've thought of anything else! Keep it up!

If you right-click the skill in the skill browser, you can select the level you want to train to.
Also, is there any chance to add pricing to the skills? As per to see how much it would cost to get on a certain ship for example. Apple fanboy.

Edited by: Flammard on 23/11/2009 03:08:43 Certs are something I've been planning to do for a while now, but have never gotten around to. Pricing, maybe but not for a while. It means delving into the database dump.
Phiillipa Suresh: If you check the first post it has instructions on the ship database. It's a bit limited but you can get prerequisite skills for a particular ship.
I've got a new test version I'd like some feedback on, It isn't finished and has some bugs (most obvious is that clicking on the buttons too fast triggers a double click event on the cell). It adds buttons to the Skill Name cells in the skill planner. The green button increases the skill to the next level. The red button deletes that skill. The orange button does nothing (yet), it will be for the notes feature that has been requested. Please let me know what you think.
The buttons are just random images I have chosen because I needed a picture. I have no graphic design talent or knowledge. If someone does and would like to design some more intuitive button graphics then please get in contact with me.

Well, only found the bugs you mentioned (double clicking), but having the buttons next to the name "makes" me increase the name cell even further (to be able to see the full name/level). Perhaps adding yet a new cell (left to the name) with the skill level, or change the location of the buttons.
Regarding the prices, couldn't you add the prices manually? (i could do that for you btw :P) Apple fanboy.

I'm not running Snow Leopard yet, but I plan to check this great looking app out when I update.
On the topic of button graphics, there are various icon collections out there with permissive licenses. Here is one such collection you may find useful: Silk Icons

Yep. Train up 1.6 million skillpoints :)
The planner doesn't know about the bonus yet. I don't know when I'll add it in.

Is there a way to update the skill prerequisites for Dominion? For exampe, bomb deployment doesn't rely on missle bombardment 5 anymore, yet the tool insists on it when adding bomb deployment to a skill plan (I'm sure there are other skills that this affects).
Client and database are both up-to-date (according to the tool itself).
Thanks in advance :)

There's no automated way to do this yet.
What you can do is open up your home directory and navigate to Library/Application Support/MacEveApi and delete SkillTree.xml.aspx
Restart the program and it will download the updated skill tree for dominion.

Ok, I start the app, I work out in preferences to add a new account, I even go to the eve website to get my API key. but however many times I press update nothing else happens. my characters don't appear. A simple "how to" would be appreciated.

How to add an account/character: Go to preferences Click on the Accounts tab Look below the window that "Accounts" is in, there is a [+] and a [-] button, click on the [+] Fill in the appropriate data, Account Name, Account ID, and API Key. Click Update Check the Active box for the characters you want to track, and then hit the close button. Your characters should now be available to use.
