Hello,
Was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I recently started missioning in caldari space. Big f-ing mistake. I had a tengu with the dissolution sequencer subsystem for the sensor strength and an ECCM module so my sensor strength was around 50 overloaded. Even with this strong of a sensor strength, I was perma jammed by only two NPC's. I got under the optimal range of their jammers like you would in PvP but still I was perma jammed. Are NPC's jammers ungodly strong or something, am I doing something wrong? Any insight on this would be appreciated.
Edit: this was not a level 4, this was only a level 3 mission. |

was it called something like 'culling the competition'? you can finish that one before the ECM ships spawn. read up on eve-survival. but to answer your question: in most missions, ECM is not as strong as in this specific mission but some others are out there. |

You got... under... their optimal?
Like you would in PvP?
The only reason getting "under" something's guns works is because guns have tracking speed. ECM does not have a tracking speed. Any range closer than its optimal is equally good. |

I switch to FOF's in my tengu and approach those little b&^^%$. If you worried about triggers, I suggest not doing it as they will hit whatever is closest.. even structures. Missile enhancers.. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1235061& |

In some missions it can be really annoying and downright hair-pulling if you mess up triggers, I remember Guristas Assault being a pain even in a Dissolution Sequencer Tengu + 1 mid slot ECCM |

Use FoF missiles, it's what I do in my Nighthawk, find out whos jamming you and orbit them closely with FoF missiles active and they will go pop. Rinse and Repeat. Welcome to Eve. Everyone here is an Evil Sick Sadistic Bastard who is out to get you. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either trying to scam you or use you. |

If you see the Guristas faction icon in the mission briefing, put some heavy FoF missiles into the cargohold.
AB on an approach the offending jammer while spewing FoF at it. Works great. |

Not to start another topic and I've seen that the fof missiles are given as an option here, for missions, here comes my question:
How do fof missiles actually work nowadays? I ask this because it happened to me twice: I was doing lvl 4 missions in my raven, got heavily jammed and so I have loaded the fof cruise missiles. To my stupefaction, the missiles were hitting buildings
To be more specific, in one of the cases, they all went to a "warp gate wall", a structure that was closest to me, that didn't have any guns or any form of aggression towards me (and looked ugly as well :P). In the other case, they went to a "mining outpost". So basically, each time went to a place that was... well, was simply standing in space.........
Any idea what's all this about?! |

If its the same Caldari mission killing caldari and yep I have had problems killing the 2 npc ships, you try to move closer to them but they just move out. The spawn on those 2 ships is random can be in the first 2 waves or you may not actually get them. I normally complete the mission and then try and clear after just for the tags. btw I am using a drake with t2 hobbos and they do sod all dps on the 2 ships. |

If you can get some little window between jams, drones will lock and kill the little bastard even if he jams you again. In the meanwhile, FoF missiles are your friends |

Depends what drones you have , t2 hobbos dont do hardly any damage on the 2 ships. I have done this mission many times and even failed once when trying to clear the spawns before knocking out the repair station. For a l3 mission the damage you take is bad enough if using a drake let alone 2 ships stopping you from targetting. I have done easier l4 than this one. |

It continues to amaze me how some folks have such trouble with jamming in PVE missions. |

You want to go away from the ECM ship, going closer makes it stronger. |

Im pretty sure its confirmed by ccp that ncp ecm is completely different to player ecm, so ecm in missions is basicly completley random ragardless of your sensor strength. So essentialy no matter what ship or mods your running, mission ecm is just something you have deal with.

proof!
Basicly missioning in caldari space is an avoidable ballache and isk/hour will be better almost anywhere else if your flying a ship where you can control your damage type. |

Your proof is a 4 year old thread. If you have looked at any of the patch notes in the last year, they completely redid the NPC ecm effects to act properly like player ecm. They also reduced the amount of ECM npcs. |

the idea is to fit for dps, and take out the jammers first, despoilers/saboteurs etc...
another idea is to use drones, these are not affected when you are jammed and will 'usually' attack the ship aggressing you
i fly in caldari zones, and only find the jamming a minor annoyance once i learnt to take out the ships accordingly |

Messoroz is right, I also thought it was still completely random but putting two ECCMs on my marauder was the difference between perma jam and hardly any jams at all.

Fixed that for you. This is the thread that should be referenced for these purposes:

LOL I know the mission your talking about with the two NPC falcons ...... use double ECCM along with the Dissolution sub, you'll have no problem after that and when you do lvl 4's you'll only need 1 ECCM with Gurista's You failed to target nothing!-áGëívGëí online |
