Your main eveonline splash site for new users has problems with its video player.
I accessed it in Google Chrome and thought i would play the video, at about 14 seconds the browser started to crash out. I then tried it on Firefox, same crap happened.
Just letting you know, it ain't good first impressions to a new player.. (SERVICE) Need a project coding? (PHP & Javascript) https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=101893&find=unread |

Greetings capsuleer,
I am at 1:11 using Chrome and I am experiencing no problems. You may want to check your rig as I suspect your pod may be ******.

Sir, because it works for you its fine? and indeed, it may indeed be my rig, either way it needs fixing. I am running an Pentium 1.3ghz, 3 gig, 64 bit windows 7 laptop. Which for the record is not good..
My CPU jumps upto 100% after the first 14 seconds, that don't happen with Youtube videos.. The site is bugged, i am bringing it to CCP's attention why always the negative comments bro?
Damn!!
From my posts i have come to realise that like 80+% of the posters here only post when they have something negative to say, so bitter indeed... (SERVICE) Need a project coding? (PHP & Javascript) https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=101893&find=unread |

Works fine on Chrome here.
The Eve website uses the new HTML5 video tag, which passes all the video-playing responsibilities to your browser, not to some weird flash player. I don't know why both Firefox and Chrome would crash for you, since they would be using different play methods.
File a petition?
Ed: The problem does indeed sound like it's on your end. Some possibilities:
- Crappy internet connection/firewall that mis-downloaded the video, and then cached it
- Decoding error due to freak coincidence in the decoders that Chrome and Firefox are using (I don't think they would be using the same one, but if so this is even more likely)
- Sound/video output error for some reason

Greetings challenged capsuleer,
Indeed, it is. However, the fixing is not required on CCPs end. It needs fixing on your end; so your angsty communication about their problem is your problem. And you are the one advertising related services in your signature ...
How utterly amusing!
Looking forward to more of your silly posts,

Just because you idiots decided to flame me once more i decided to find the route of the problem to prove you all wrong again.. after all htm5 canvas is fairly new and requires you to supply multiple video link types depending on the browser etc
After loading the page and then using firebug to easily see the videos properties i noticed this.
>source src="http://web.ccpgamescdn.com/videos/crucible/EVE_Crucible_mp4_55q_720p.mp4" type="video/mp4"<>/source< >source src="http://web.ccpgamescdn.com/videos/crucible/EVE_Crucible_ogv_360.ogv" type="video/ogg"<>/source<
In that order..
The problem CCP the first video the browser decides to use is the 35mb 720pi mp4 video, the video is online 1 min long that is why it was freezing for long periods etc..
Your have your video source files in the wrong order CCP... put the ogg vid first! You can hank me here so these muppets will get of my back in the general discussion section.. I'll be the one to stand up and defend this man. All of you should be ashamed of your actions here. You were in such a haste to flame him and you missed the painfully obvious....this man was visiting the new player site to learn about eve. You all keep saying that he doesn't understand the game and when he goes to learn you harp on him more. Encourage him for pities sake!
Good sir, I hope you are enjoying your introductory video now. Do you smell what the Lock's cooking? |
