Edited by: Mithfindel on 16/06/2009 20:23:34 Quite nice. One of the few troubles is that some of the ships have shadows coming from different directions (the 'geddon on the foreground is about correct, but the other ships have some troubles - including the other 'geddons, which lack a shadow on the "dark" side) - also perhaps some problems with the perspective, as in the Apocalypses and then the 'geddons that appear on the background - since in EVE we have up, one would expect to see those ships "from the above", not from the same angle as the one in the foreground. The "glued on" look is slightly reinforced by the ships on the lower right going very symmetrically on the same direction - and also, the scale there might be off. Based on scale only, the Punishers would likely be the closest to the camera, but on the picture at least I would place them to be the furthest from the camera. (Which would make them almost battleship-sized when scaled.)
While I realize that it's not entirely fair, you might want to compare things with this wallpaper released by CCP when Trinity was launched. (Light seems to radiate from the sun, all ships travelling on different directions - roughly towards the center of the image, but not exactly - and yes, the Punishers are still a bit too big, methinks, though there's no reference point to see well how "deep" they are in the image.)

yeah i'm aware of shadow problem.. was too focused to make apocs right and missed shadows on the gedons.. thnx for reminding :) at first i put punishers to front but than .. i luv gedons and switched them :) punishers rescaled and goin more deeper in the back
checked that picure i wish i had their programs.. u aware they are using a different kind of program for videos and screens ? :) that pic coming from that program ohh and they have same punishers at same place!! :p and for apoc and coercer.. how they got sun light.. they are behind of station.. maybe apoc can get a bit but.. coercer.. where that light come from :)while station back side "shadowed" and prophecy pozition agaisnt star right side is ok but if u look left side same thing with my gedons.. no "heavy shadow" only less light |

Edited by: Mithfindel on 17/06/2009 05:39:04 Yes, I'm aware that the CCP scene might be actually rendered with the game engine (or more likely, with a beefed-up engine version that doesn't even run real-time). Noticed the destroyers myself. (Edit: Checked: I'd bet that the Coercer is so far front that the station isn't between it and the sun.)

Edited by: Mithfindel on 17/06/2009 20:55:34 You might for example want to check the size of those Prophecies in your picture and the size of the Coercer in CCP's - the station actually isn't blocking the light to the destroyer, I think. (Of course, these are opinions, all of us are entitled to have our own and I am not quite fond enough of the topic to do the math to make these any "facts" - and yes, I'm aware that the Coercer is actually quite long.) |
