I've just started playing this again against some of my mates from work, who have now bullied me into buying the expansion.
I did have to run a slight mod on my exe to allow me to play the big maps, they shipped it so it wouldn't like if it grew to use more than 2GB RAM (usually only happened on the biggest maps with 7 AI's (with all graphics details set to max))
With all the details off the game looks ugly, I remember the difference when I went from playing it on on laptop to my gaming rig.

Supreme Commander Forged Alliance is faster on hardware than its original. But still if you play an 8 player game on a 40K map it will run slower about 30 minutes into a game with thousands of units doing stuff.
My PC has a AMD X2 6000 and it struggles with such large maps. Intel CPU's seem to cope much better.
To see how your PC fares go to the console with ~ then type in ren_ShowNetworkStats. When your max_sp goes below 0 then your PC is struggling.
I often play Cybran to teleport ninja enemy commanders

tbh I have supreme commander and did try to get into it but just couldn't. I used to play Total Annihilation a lot which is what Supreme Commander is based on and just found that TA was more fun, couldn't really pin point what it was about SC that had changed. Could just be my reluctance to move onto an 'improved' game when the original didn't really need improving - maybe if they had re-released TA (don't know if developers do that), revamped like an expansion pack it would have been equally successful.

I think SC doesn't have the same realistic terrain/projectile system like TA had... I noticed that my bombers were doing full damage to a moving target when the bombs exploded far away from it. Then the mountains look like it's a separate level and can't be climbed. uʍop ǝpısdn ǝɹnʇɐuƃıs ʎɯ ƃuıpɐǝɹ ǝɹɐ noʎ

Sup Com 2 is on the rails. Trailer here: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-supreme-commander/49800
What it will do better than SC:FA (known so far, might be more):
- Improved graphics: less polygons per unit, but more detailled textures and shaders. It will run better than SC:FA on current computers while looking better.
- Research trees to upgrade existing units, like adding canons, longer cannons and so on.
- Mini-experimentals, about 8 mini/normal experimantals per race. |

PFFffffffff. Try turtling with the UEF in the expansion. Talk about turtle power those guys have a turret that can hit anywhere on the map and with the new additions they have the defenses to protect it!

The lack of flying engineers makes me very very sad. I loved those guys. I'd just have them protect one ground based engineer and they'd never get in his way. It was beauty.

Got Forged alliance, jesus ****ing christ my computer chogs like a *****, but I can run regular SA maxed out with 8 of us going. Lovely bloody thing. Also i'd recommend getting the Supreme Commander Core Maximizer if you use a Dual Core, helps speed it up somewhat. Great game though, Cybrans are the best.

I love SupCom -sometimes I'd just sit back and enjoy watching the operatic battles unfold. The grandeur is reminiscent of Homeworld for me.
We also have this to look forward to.

he said at around 2:00 that in SC2 it won't be possible to know if the shot will hit or miss until the simulation actually gets there, like SC and SC:FA.. so did he mean SC1 doesn't have it? uʍop ǝpısdn ǝɹnʇɐuƃıs ʎɯ ƃuıpɐǝɹ ǝɹɐ noʎ
