Exactly. SG1 was never a 'serious' sci-fi show like bsg or babylon 5 it was more like the A-Team in space tbh. Also I loved the A-Team!

If you were the 'awesomest' person alive you would have actually been raised by Wolverine, but alas no.

The reason I was raised by wolves is because Wolverine was my father but a day after I was born he abandoned me in the wild saying "I should stop being a baby and grow a pair".

MacGyver.
You don't need any other reason.
His leaving and the Farscape guy coming in (and his wench) killed it for me. |

We are supposed to be talking about Stargate but this thread was silly to start with.
Yeah MacGyver was in Stargate I guess that was pretty cool. |

The only reason it was cancelled was because the shows airtimes were random. Every week it would be on at a different night/time, and FOX wouldn't advertise it. |

I agree, had the show not been canceled it could have really had given SG1 a run for its money if they were in the same time slot. To be honest I would have picked Firefly over SG1. On an unrelated note, Kneel before Zod! |

Actually Ra was the Highest System Lord and Supreme Ruler of the Goa'uld as shown in the SG-1 episode Seth (S03 E02). Probably what happened was that Ra and his ship left earth to travel to another planet leaving behind a small army, this army was over run (possibly with the help of Moebius Sg-1!) and the stargate buried before they had a chance to call for back up and Ra simply left the planet as it probably was important enough. |

Thats the gist of what I got for the reason earth was left alone for all that time. No naquita left to mine and a planet filled with ungrateful slaves along with the hefty travel times just to get to it made it one of the 'lost' Goa'uld slave worlds. |

because of who lead the SG-1 team, i just once in all of the seasons he was a regular want to see them somehow whip something up from spare parts.
though there was that episde where someone else did MacGuyver a stargate in a basement with a toaster. |

There is a blooper where Amanda Tapping makes a joke about that. It was during the episode where they found the second star gate. "Seriously, just take some of this ice and build us a boat, or something. Help! Im stuck on an iceberg with MacGyver!" |

Actually he did this twice, once he used a ****ton of spare wires a parts and the power from the base to make the stargate go to a location with 8 symbols(asgard homeworld).
Second time he used a crapload of parts, tools and what looked like some forks to build a laser to drill down several miles of ice in antartica.
Although he had "ancient knowledge" on both occasions...
