Hey, I was wondering CCP if you guys could answer shed some light on these questions.
1. Whats up with the Jove? In the two and a half years I've been playing, I have yet to run across any of their ships. What are they up to? Sitting in Jove space playing patty cake?
2. Is there a way into Jove space? Right now I have heard rumors but just that. If there is what clues are there? Do I have to surf threw the various WH systems to find a WH into Jove space?

1. Correct. They are just a part of the backstory. 2. There is no way to enter jove space. |

Edited by: Mithfindel on 28/06/2009 08:57:20 As a note, if the Jove would act by the background, you wouldn't see their ships unless they'd specifically want to see their ships. However, even in the backstory hints have been dropped that even CONCORD doesn't quite know what's happening to Jove, and they haven't been seen in the Assembly. (They are a member.) Jove ships were never released to the players, though a few have been seen in special events (as well as at times flown by the Devs).
There is no way to Jove space. There used to be a bug to clone there, but not any more. Devs have stated that wormholes don't lead into Jove space. They are just an enigma. The closest thing to flying Jove would be flying an Angel pirate faction ship - in the prime fiction, some of their ships may be old reverse-engineered Jove hulls (with projectile weapons).
...and a quick edit: Technically the pod is a Jove "ship".

QFT. The 4 Empires hardly Know how Pods work, they just follow the Blueprints.

Technicly speaking they did release one "ship": on, I think, fifth anniversary players got some sort of Jove-made shuttle as a gift (a friend that dragged me into EVE showed me it, and I think he still has it).

Long ago there was some events that concerned Jovians. Sadly CCP has become lazy and dropped them. |

Years ago there was an explorer MWDing his way to Jove space from the nearest star system, mapping his position all the way. He got pretty close too. I dunno if he made it there or not, but his post was a very fun read |

He may well have made it in the right place but without a session change he won't properly enter the system, there used to be a way back in the old days to enter jove space and i know a mate who got banned for 3 days because he entered there :)

Ya i know but if he ended up in right coordinates all he needed to do was logoff/login though question is if he made it there or not :P Jove space is used by devs & game masters to test stuff i think that's why it's forbidden, but u can't ban someone for ending up in jove through exploring

It was some time ago, that a Developer remarked that the old Jove Ship Models were not ported over into the Premium Engine. Also back a few years ago, most Developers had Jovian Characters to post on the Forum, but they were also removed.

TECHNICALLY, that is a Society of Conscious Thought ship. While Jovian by definition, are sort of their own faction and it is not a standard Jovian ship.
But if they'd like to give us an Eidolon. |

Thanks to whichever Dev did this. But they did them all for Apocrypha. Now if you link to any of them in game you can use the preview.
Then you can be amazed at how much better than most other ships they look like.

SoCT may be part of the Jove, but they have a distinct appearance from the standard Jove vessels.

Simply put, Jovian space is where the devs play amongst themselves.
The proletariat aren't allowed to mix with them.

No. Each system is a separate area. Even if in the map your location is on an area that overlaps another area on the starmap, you are still in the original system, in a very deep safespot - some lightyears from the star at some direction, but still within the same system. It is impossible to change systems without a gate or someone already present in the target system (with a cyno field). It'd be cool if it worked, but nope.
Also, the original way of getting there was the probing system. Probes gave at first erratic results, where you jumped, and then hoped you could find a closer match. Now, if the probe gave an extremely bad result, it could end far beyond the "solar system".
