Hi guys. OK, here's the scene. A few months ago I got really fed-up with Eve, threw a major hissy fit and stormed off, after biomassing my two and a half year old character. Yes, I know, silly thing to do, but that's what I did.
Anyway, a few days ago I came skulking back with said tail between my legs. Again, yes I know, Eve never lets you go once she gets her hands on you
Well, I've been resigned to starting afresh with a new character, and that's what I am doing.
However, a couple of people have mentioned that they believe it may be possible to actually request the character back, that biomassed characters are still held for awhile.
Now, I've not been aware if that is the case, so I thought I'd ask here before going to CCP, CAP in hand and on bended knees to start some honest to goodness begging.

There is no petition category I know of for filing such a request, thus I must conclude that this is not possible. -------- Ideas for: Mining

I heard it was only possible if it wasnt you who biomassed, i.e. someelse else logged in and destroyed your account.

Think CCP only re-activate a character if the account was hacked and the character killed.
Originally by: Jaegerthryd Hi guys. with said tail
Also that makes no sense. (as in you didnt mention the tail earlier... so its not 'said') |

there was a dude a while back rage/drunk/emobiomassed his char, and got it back.
But that was just over a few days, not a few months.
If the character name hasn't been used in the intervening time, it may be possible to restore the character, but don't count on it.
It might be worth a try, if only to get 100% conclusive answer, otherwise it may nag away at you for ever... |

I say put in a petition and ask nicely.
You have nothing to lose by trying... be polite and explain trufully what happened and keep your fingers crossed. and be patient, it could take a while to get a response.
If that fails save up and buy a new char comparable to your old char from the character bazarr. plenty of decent characters availlable there.

Edited by: Amuko on 28/06/2009 19:32:27 As far as I'm aware characters are never really 'deleted' even when biomassed.
I'm *almost* sure that you can, for example, still search and find names of biomassed characters using the ingame name search, or at the very least that you can't re-use that name, so it's still in the database.
Give it a try, search for your old chars name, see if it gives a hit, if it does, your char still excists, somewhere..
And then, you can ask the GMs to give you back your char, and if you ask nicely enough (and promise beer) they might even do it.
Hope this helps:). |

No. CCP will only resurrect a biomassed character (if I remember correct) if its been proven that someone had hacked your account and deleted it. Therefore biomassed is biomassed. If they did not have this rule, they would have to retrieve characters all the time for ppl who biomasses in rage.

I've petitioned to have two characters restored from biomassing in 2008 and both were restored by the GM in game. They tell you this can only be done once, or something to that effect. Both were restored within the same day I petitioned them to be revived. In fact, most MMO's will allow you to do this. Given the frustrations that can occur in Eve, its no surprise they allow for restores.
Just don't abuse the service or they will prevent you from using this service in the future.
PS - I can't remember if the characters came back intact with ships an ISK. In fact, I think that may be the one portion that wasn't able to be restored, but its been long enough I can't recall for sure.

Well, just to wrap this post up. Yes you can get your character back. How do I know?
Because Jaegerthryd, the OP is now my mining alt and not my main character, and Max, who is typing this is the character who was biomassed.
I put in a petition under the accounts heading, that one seeing to be the closest match for the situation. I didn't hear anything for about three days, then last night I logged in briefly, and there was Max's handsome features looking at me from the log in screen.
To confirm what the poster above said. CCP appear to treat this as a 'one off' favor and not something that is a right, so it's not something people should think they can do time after time, nor even expect to be automatically successful even if they just ask the once.
As a last word, the only other advice I can give is; when you apply, be honest. I fessed up about having a hissy fit when I left and accepted full responsibility for the character being biomassed.
Actually, my last word is to the people who make the decisions within CCP. Thank you, I appreciate what you have done, and I promise. Next time I have a hissy fit at Eve, which I know I will do sometime in the future, I will leave Eve for as long as it takes me to cool off and start missing the game again, but will keep my hand well, well away from the biomass button.

Bolded the important part; I had it on a previous character, got EMO deleted him and quit the game. Came back a few months later and just like the OP wanted to get my char back, I made a petition and they asked me all kinds of questions about the how and why.
My replies could be summed up as "I was stupid and emo", they restored the char without issue.

That "I was drunk and biomassed myself" thing was before they put in the 10 hour delay, to prevent things like that from happening, since you now have to kill a char in 3 steps CCP won't have to deal with all you drunk biomass requests.
1. Actually pressing the delete and confirm that you want to biomass it. 2. Wait 10 hours for the char to get first in line for biomassing. 3. Actually confirm again that you still wish to biomass it.
It would be pretty rare that a drunk dude did all these three things only to come back and want the char back.
But anyway, petition and ask. You have nothing to lose on getting denied, the best thing that could happen is that you do get it back if it can be traced to your current account.

Not really, I have the habit of falling asleep, so managing to have a solit drunkness for 10 hours straight and then manage to biomass myself would be an achievement. For me at least

Speaking as someone who has biomassed 8 characters in total and had them all returned:
Yes, CCP will do it. Once. If you biomass them again, they wont do it.
Petition it as Stuck or as a Character transfer thingy and they'll do it.
All of your previous assets will be donated to the corp you were in at the time. If it's an NPC corp you wont ever get them back. --
