So, im speccing towards a tasty Assault Frigate to have some fun with in PVP and whatnot, be the fore-runner of the corp in PVP fights. Flying a Rifter atm, im unsure of which AF to grab, the Wolf or the Jaguar, its a hard choice...can you guys help me, i.e. tell me good and bad things about each one.

Jaguar all the way if you ask me, Wolf gets a bit better dps, but Jaguar has a lot more tank, is a great tackler, a lot faster.
Wolf sadly severely lacks cpu to fit it properly :(

The jaguar is just about in every conceivable way better than a wolf.

AF's = Heavy Tacklers
Jaguar is better.

Depends on what you want to do. Jag is a great heavy tackler and can be loads of fun but if you are running solo I would say the Wolf is a bit better due to it's dps.

the jag and the wolf both been good ships was the only post that made any sense tbh.
a jaguar has no tank fitted if its fitted with tackle..... a wolf only has 2 mids so is never good as a tackle ship... a jaguar can tank nicely when not packing tackle.... a wolf can tank quite well too but you need good skills/rigs/implants and again you throw out some of your dps... the wolf does not only have a little bit more dps. its a whole extra gun for god sake.. both ships. as with many minnie ships require pretty high skills to make them really come to life...
So. IMO the wolf packs a real nasty little punch. 280 dps is pretty scary from a frigate. only dooable if you fit a MSE II for a bit of buffer while your dps does the rest. hence no tackle.
jaguar IMO good boat but not a good tackler. works best with someone else pointing while you soak up some damage with your good resists and decent PG . you can buffer or squeeze a active tank on while keeping decent dps.
the wolf can also pack artys. tho there of limited use at the moment. there are occasions when they can make frigate pilots cry tho. and for that added versatility and extra DPS i prefer the WOLF everytime.

They are both good ships, and quite different from each other. Here is a brief comparison of the stats.
Wolf: - preferred weapon: autocannons - bigger armor buffer - better targeting range and scan res. - smaller signature - more low and high slots - more PG - more Turret hardpoints
Jaguar: - preferred weapon: artys - better shield recharge - better sensor strength - faster - more med slots - more CPU |

this is just absurd. you should think about getting a clue before posting your worthless advice.
to the OP, think of the wolf and the jag as tools in a toolbox. keep both on hand, and use the one you need for the job you are doing.

Lol. I dont even wanna see that failfit.
The jag with full tackle will have roughly the same tank as a 400mm plate full resist wolf, fyi.
edit: and since this leaves the jag with 2 lowslots for gyros compared to 0 on the wolf it even outdamages it

Not a joke, though you obviously missed the important part:
Quote: (...)leaves the jag with 2 lowslots for gyros compared to 0 on the wolf(...)
You obviously get more dps out of a wolf than a jag in general, but if you want the same tank like the jag (still not the web though), the jag does more damage.

This is a good analogy.
The wolf is a fixed size wrench of 1/8th inch. The jaguar is an adjustable wrench. I suppose you could use the 1/8th fixed wrench when you need to, but the adjustable will be able to do it just as well, while also being useful for every other bolt out there.

Okay, how about it, then. Your 1/8th inch wrench against my no way in hell better adjustable wrench.

Again, they're heavy tacklers, the wolf can't tackle and tank, the Jaguar can. The jaguar is very good, the wolf is worthless.

Woah it sounds like we have another contender.
Feel free to come to Amamake. I'll happily part your Wolf and 4 turrets from you with my pathetic 3 turreted Jaguar.

On ship that shouldn't be doing dps.

Wow, expected somewhat better tbh. Numbers don't make the ship, realistic options in situations do.
here's some hints;
- the wolf can do a whole lot of dps but only in EFT warrior zero tank failfits - due to no tracking bonus the wolf is unable to deal with drones, which means he has to downgrade his guns to up his tracking and/or die to them - wolf is slower but has a lower sig radius, it's plate makes it more sluggish though. Even with a 400 plate it doesn't match the Jag's tank - jag fits a web to deal with fast targets and/or drones - jag is faster - in normal situations with actual fits a jag and wolf dps is almost similar (wolf does about 20% more dps) - if you give the Jag some TLC in the form of nice gear you can make an active tanking frig that is more awesome than a tripple breasted hooker
So yes in fail EFT fits the wolf can do amazing dps, in actual fits it's a tad better than a Jag. BUT, it lacks the speed, tank and control of the Jag. So if you're part of a fleet and your sole role is to do dps and die in .5 of a second if people blink at you, then yes the wolf is better. In every other situation the Jag is the more complete package.
Self-proclaimed idiot
