You're in the same alliance with F900 or what's his name. How hard can it be to ask him? I think he's one of the richest around.
Also, stop trolling.

Well, we had a good sticky but the mods in their infinite wisdom decided that it should be unstickied. I'll link you to it. I suggest you read the whole thread, not just the first post.
Random note: the 720 individual in that thread ended up scamming. Atima's IPO (despite Atima no longer running it) is still paying dividends.

What do you specifically want explaining? There are countless investment options, each with their own unique rate of return and conditions. You really need to be more specific in your questions.
If you are seeking advice on where to put your money then based on your question I would say don't invest in anything. Your now likely going to get your inbox spammed with investment opportunities, 99% of which will be attempts to scam you.
Do your own research into investments and make your own judgements.

It depends on the offering, but typically from an investors point of view in eve;
IPO's Generally you as an investor are buying a share of the business. This is accomplished by purchasing shares in the business and each share (normally) carries an identical initial cost. In normal situations, the person running the business will issue dividends each month, which tends to be based on the business profits for that period. The amount of shares you hold will determine the size of your returns from dividends although each share will recieve the same payout rate. Holding shares also entitles you to a say in certain business politics, namely those that require a vote. Again, your shares represent a percentage of your holdings in the business meaning the more shares you hold, the more influence you will have on any vote. In addition, the value of the shares can change from week to week, sometimes increasing in value, sometimes dropping. This is one key difference to bonds.
Bonds Bonds usually carry a set price/value for their duration, meaning when the term of the bond expires you get back the exact price you paid from them off the issuer. The also tend to carry a set rate of return, meaning you can expect an identical payment from them everytime a payment is recieved. Also, bonds have no physical representation in eve. You are essentially sending money to the issuer and get nothing physical in return except the promise of the advertised rate at the advertised intervals. The issuer will use their own form of data storage (excel, webdatabase etc) to keep a record of bondholders and payments.

Ulecese nailed it for eve.
In the real financial markets an IPO represents the sale of equity in the company, a right to the future earnings of a company. A bond returns the same rate no matter how much profit or lose is made. In the event of bankruptcy, you want to be a bond holder not a shareholder, debt is paid off first.

im more interesting in the difference between a bond and a ipo, how to tell if something would be a good investment, and what would be a "too good" investment
Read the stickies and then follow the MD forum for awhile. You do not want to throw your isk at the first pilot that comes in here flaunting a new IPO or whatever their flavor may be.
Listen to and read what the MD heavy weights have to say about certain threads and schemes that pop up. You will start to identify things that they talk about and will soon be able to identify higher and lower risk ventures.
So the biggest advice I can offer is read, read, read, then take small steps, and do not ever throw all your eggs into one basket.
