Edited by: Pinworm4545 on 08/07/2009 10:41:51 Hey guys, I have some questions hopefully someone can clear up.
As we well know, Scamming in EVE is not only legal, but a lucrative business.
My question is in regard to something that seems on a similiar level to Scamming, but may have different rules.
Specifically, fraud.
Let's face it, EVE is a game that contains many nerds (no hate, I'm one of you!), and nerds have a stigma of living in their mothers basement and lacking a girlfriend.
Now it's legal to play off of peoples sight shortcomings (IE, tricking people to buy something for "342 thousand ISK" instead of "342 million ISK". Is it as legal to pretend to be female in an effort to get on peoples good side to get money?
I'm not talking about saying "I AM A GIRL GIVE ME MONEY" in jita chat or begging of any sort, but rather just being open about being female and then when in private chats/groups with a particular person, implying you lack money.. Is this against the rules?

Alright, would it be against the rules to say
"I am a girl and I have a webcam. My email is [email protected]"?
Because, I may or may not have the skills to emulate recorded video footage as my webcam.
If it is against the rules, only in public channels such as NPC corp/local, or anywhere?

In all fairness Lana has never asked me for isk, nor have I ever given her any (nor would I, tbqh). But there are certainly people on teh intranets significantly more desperate than I.

Your first words in every petition you file should be "I'm a girl and....."
There is no documented case where this has failed to achieve a swift and beneficial response.

I pretty much just assume that everyone in Eve is a 35 year old man living in his parent's basement. It's just easier that way.
I said that once in corp chat and someone got all offended. Insisted that I "pick a color." She then proceeded to find a shirt in that color, take a photo and email it to me. I have no idea why she went to all that trouble.
When it comes to chat, I address a character as the gender they have for their avatar.

I assume that people are what they say they are unless they give me reason to suspect otherwise. I tend to address them by/as the gender appropriate pronoun for their avatar.
It saves me headaches - and frankly, I don't care. It's not like I'll ever see any of them IRL anyway (unless I happen to visit fanfest one year). As far as I am concerned, you can be a horse with an odd hoof deformation that allows you to operate a mouse. Whatever.
As for the OP, as long as what you're doing isn't illegal IRL (and by this I mean illegal in a fashion that would potentially get CCP in trouble, such as distributing pedophilic materials, or the like), or an exploit of the game mechanics, I doubt CCP will care, tbh. Social engineering is a perfectly acceptable occupation in EVE. --Vel

Vent and TS work wonders in proving who is the opposite gender as their avatar. Unless of course "she" says she just has a really bad cold .

It would be awesome if they added voice fonts to eve voice, would help pull something like that off pretty well.
Find a female friend that's a perv (or not a perv) and have her do cam stuff for you. Try to avoid cam/voice as much as possible. Make up excuses like "my husband/bf will be mad if he knows I'm flirting with guys online" or "I don't have a cam/mic" (although the first option is more believable) Don't be a fool and start being all flirty right off the bat, you need to think hard about how a real girl would behave and stick to that (if you've had any interactions with females in other mmos). It usually takes a while to figure that someone is actually a chick in an MMO most of the time (unless they're a complete gamer ****). Patience is a virtue if you're going to do the female impersonator gig. Be aloof to any advances at first, make them chase you like any real woman would. The more of a challenge you are the more believable you will be, but don't be "too hard" to get. Whatever you do don't declare "I am a woman" that's a huge red flag, drop subtle hints about "real life" things here and there and occasionally use terms like "hon" and such, but don't over do it. If you want to really pull it off well, you're going to have to do a lot of work at it.
Anyone who thinks that someone really is a woman in eve deserves to be taken for all their isk. :) On a side note, I have been in 2 corps that had an actual girls, one on my first toon, and one on this one, but they're pretty rare from my experience.
Good luck, looking forward to some great stories of your exploits :P
