Hey Guys,
This isnt a whining/complaining thread, but more of a questioning one. I was mining in my procurer (my first mistake, im aware) in amarr, in 1.0 space, and i went afk for about 30 seconds. Since i was in high sec, i figured id be ok for a min or so. I come back and im looking at my empty ship slot in my home station wondering how the hell i got back there. Apparently someone killed me, and podded me in high sec, without being killed by concord. I private convoed the player and asked how he could do this, and he said my sec status was -0.5, so he was able to kill me in high sec. I thought you needed a sec status of -5 in order to do that, not -.5. If he did something against the rules, i would like to know, so if you guys could enlighten me to the mechanics of how that happened, it would be appreciated. I lost 10m in implants, and am pretty low on isk atm, so im kind of ****ed right now. Thanks guys!

You can kill and pod anyone in hisec. Concord just serves as a consequence, not as protection.

How do you know he wasn't killed by CONCORD?
If I was the kind of person that would pod random people, and they convoed/evemailed me about it later being upset, I'd probably tell them that I got away without losing my ship too just to annoy them more. That's an if, remember.
Basically - remember that unless you're docked, you're never truly safe anywhere, even in highsec. You took a chance (admittedly with very good odds) and this time you lost. It really does sound like this guy suicide ganked you for whatever reason, since the only way he can legally attack you is if your corp's at war with him, or if you have a sec below -5.0 (as he said).

By undocking you are consenting to PVP...
But yeah, the dude died, anything else is considered an exploit and CCP ganks your ship anyways. You clearly didn't see the event happen so im guessing you just assumed he lived or he told you he did; and yeah, if you convoed asking if his ship died, you obviously don't understand the game mechanics enough and I'd not only tell you I had survived, but was given exotic dancers and tons of isk for my valiant jackassery.
He died, you died, such is the way of EVE. We sympathize with your loss

Pretty sure he was. Looking on BC you can find the killmail. He got smartbombed by an outlaw, which then proceeded to bull**** him. -- 081014 : emoragequit, char transfered to a friend, 090317 : back to original owner blog |

By any chance are you in a player corporation that has war declarations on it? War targets are fair game, so CONCORD doesn't intervene in that case.

Edited by: Connner on 15/07/2009 18:16:23 Ok seems everyone wants to be somewhat of a jerk in here. To answer your question, yes they can kill you and/or pod you in high sec. No they can not do it w/o being concorded (asumeing you are not lying about your sec status). If somehow they did this without being concordokkened then it is an exploit and you can petition it. The GM's will be able to check the logs to be sure CONCORD acted.
edit...: Don't expect miricles though, likely the guy did get CONCORDED and was just lying. So petition but expect a reply similar to: The logs, they show nothing.

I'm just curious as to the identity of this Procurer ship killer...
He's probably doing the miners of Eve more of a favor than we think!

You didn't want that Procurer anyway, and remember to update your clone in case you get podded again
I would consider changing career; miners are pretty much lowest on the pecking order and have to endure can baiting and suicide ganks from bored players on a regular basis (or so I have heard).
Remember; if you can't beat them, join them

id also not be shocked if the character that did it was a "throw away" meaning its likely a waste of time to pvp fit a ship and try and cash in your kill rights, doesnt take long to get BS skill and energy pulse weapons.

lol that was a complete waste of a suicide battleship. He should have used a smartbombing battlecruiser and would still have gotten the pod.

It's a bug with the KM system, that's been there for quite a while now.
For somereason, KM's have been showing far less damage than they should. As even a unpiloted, unfitted Procurer has about 900-1000 raw hitpoints --------------------------------------------

Your ship (not the pod, so it's not this case) can be easily killed in high sec without CONCORD intervention and by losing about 0.01 sec, by using a quite easy yet brilliant trick.
I filed a petition if it's accepted by CCP for doing this trick and twice they told me: yes.

There's also the fact that a Retriever (that is a much better barge) has 450 hp or so. Barges ARE made of chalk.
