Baltec1 been doing Worm Holes since inception but now with the price crash on the market if it continues will the reward vs risk be worth it? I guess we'll have to wait and see. As you've probably noticed the price of T1 ships, mods going up WH's looks like missing the mark.
But it is still fun in a WH, the cash is just a bonus

Originally by: Varden Gage ...it would be nice if older players could continue to develop their characters' chosen profession...
Professions don't keep developing. Once you reach the limit of your talent, you're just keeping up with the SotA. An architect who's been designing things for 30 years has as much chance of being worse than an architect who's been in practice for 20 years as of being better, depending on how well they've incorporated new techniques and methods developed since their training. Most professions progress to management of other, less experienced members of the profession after a certain point, and that's reflected in the gang and leadership skills in EvE.
To simply add new skills at the top of each tree that just take longer yet to learn and give another fraction of a point of advantage to those who're there is a waste of time for two reasons: environmental variables will drown any advantage gained in noise; specialised younger characters will still be able to catch the "veterans" in one of the areas, so the whole argument just restarts.
To be useful and interesting, and specifically for methusalan characters, any new skills would need to rely upon the advantage that older characters have, namely breadth. So the new skills would have to have prerequisites from widely variant skill trees which don't generally interact. Say Science plus Corporate Management to give a corp or a PoS or some other entity a bonus on research, or Mining plus Large Projectile to allow a weapon-fitted ship to contribute to a mining gang's rate of extraction (or mining lasers to be used offensively). Or Drones and Probing to allow scanning one JGate over...
New skills should broaden the universe, making niches for people, and some of those niches should be attainable by the focused newb, but it's not inconceivable that there might be roles or niches that could be the sole preserve of the 50MSP-plus character
Editor's note: no game rules were harmed in the making of this post; examples given are for illustrative purposes only and will no doubt fail to withstand exhaustive analysis.

Originally by: Varden Gage I suppose what I'm saying is that at some point CCP might want to consider introducing some select level 6 and 7 skills -- skills that would really make a difference on the field, but that would require a serious investment of time and ISK to realize any benefits.
No. There are various means to acquire numerous 5% skill implants which, in effect, offer "Level 6" performance for anyone who has skilled to Level 5 in a desired skill.

No, older characters should not be any more 'powerful'.
While I'm not complaining about them, I'm complaining about them complaining about us, the new players. I just said it in another thread - it's impossible for new players to get into PvP quickly and be competitive. ____________________________________

Older characters ARE more powerful though.
By simple numerical cheating.
You pop in a lowsec system, see two in local, one is a 2008 and one is a 2003. You know which scares you more
Can't count with both hands the times i've been left alone because of that 2003 tag.
Not that i'm saying they don't have a reason

No, do not give old players new skills, let them just sit with the stuff they have till they get bored and quit the game so that the new players can take over!
Also make it impossible for vets to earn any more money, they already have enough anyway so they do not need to make anymore, also the new players are not able to catch up with them when they can keep making isk, that is totally unfair!

If I had to start over I wouldn't. I have got accustom to be able to use all races all weapons all everything with all my level 5 skills across. Starting over would be frustrating and boring; as such I feel for the new players just starting EVE. :P Want to know more? |

I have knowledge on my side, a new player doesn't.
I have some skills that make or break my setup, a new character doesn't.
I can fly some ships that would make even the most experienced player on a new character cringe or start trying to gtfo, a new character can't.
There's plenty that established players can do and have that new players can't do or don't have. Of course, in the same way, someone with a clue can quickly build up capital, connections and asset flow and establish themselves as a market force to be reckoned with with the minimum of skillpoints, but these kinds of people tend to quickly amass enough isk to upgrade to better trade related characters anyway.
If you can harness the power of trade, you can buy the knowledge and skillpoints you need to get your feet wet in PVP. Beyond that it purely boils down to individual intelligence. ---

Edited by: LUH 3472 on 18/07/2009 04:51:18 it is ok as it is only what i would like for longterm player who ally themself with npc factions to get something nice and not make it to insanely hard to get this 2 run battleship bpcs from cosmos i wants some reward for grinding all this missions all this years something neatly time related like say you have been so and so long associate of that npc corp then there is a bonus :)
all this has to get more personal
there needs to be possible ingame ccp now listen closely things that you can identify yourselfs with as a player especially also long term like you have social network and all that buuuut to be very honest the space itself is deserted and that lac atmosphaere im not sure if oyu can hear me at all but yeah space is a bit deserted and lacks amtospheaer thats goin into personal like for example sites you remember like ooohhh this big nebula and there is luminare and xyz system backgrounds for instance matching physical location give it depth
