Hello everybody,
I'm pretty new to Eve-online but I was missing an app for my mobile phone. I was wondering how others feel about an app for Windows Mobile that could monitor account balance and skill training.
I have already begun writing code with a modified version of the libeveapi library under Compact Framework 3.5.
I have uploaded some screenshots here: Link I hope to have a beta ready for testing soon!
Thanks for your time!

Edited by: Muesli Reep on 17/07/2009 14:52:04 I have released a beta version that can be downloaded here: Link
Latest version is 0.1.3
Please remember that this release is a very early beta and therefor somewhat buggy

It looks nice.
There is already a mobile skill monitor for windows mobile here: http://eveskillpocket.sourceforge.net/
But it looks like it's no longer being developped. It had a few 'features' that i didn't like... like screaming "SKILL TRAINING COMPLETED" every time a skill finishes. I've gotten a lot of weird looks in meetings :)
I'll look forward to your next release.

First off thank you for trying the app! Could you send me the complete error text so i can look into the bug?
Wow, I had been looking for a WM app but i never found skillpocket! Thanks for the link.
As for this app I haven't had much time to work on it lately. But I was able to slim down the time it takes to login in release 0.1.5
If any users have feature requests, I would like to hear them!

looks good :) maybe you could get some feature inspiration from capsuleer ? http://capsuleer.evesuite.com/
Some features I would like to see in a windows mobile are in there as well (Server status, headlines (eveblogs and eve blog pack) But that might be a bit to much :P |

I have been looking at Capsuleer which just looks awesome. But I wouldnt want to make an exact copy.
Server status is a good idea, ill look into that!
As for headlines, it would be nice to have an "all in one" app with blog posts and news headlins but I would have to find a way to present all the information on smaller sized screens.
I have also just released a new version(0.2.0), I finally got rid of the skill training taking for ever to show up. I am also playing around with some wallet functionality but I switched it off for this release. I made a new splash screen and the app is making use of the menu bar so it wont need buttons anymore.
I am still looking to do something about the graphics, but ill need some feedback for that.

It doesn't seem to store the api for me ? When I click save nothing happens so when I got to login it tells there is no api data stored. On the same subject a feature request would be to make api entering a bit more easy. I know capsuleer solved it because there was no copy paste function in the iphone os at first with some sort of url association. And I know a capsuleer clone probably is not going to happen but more options to make it actually make people use it a lot would be great :D
As far as graphics go, I would be willing to help you out a bit. but I have limited experience in making graphical layouts for windows mobile applications or applications in general :P But I suppose that is something I can learn, I do know my way around photoshop. ____ Hi! |

Oops! I had forgotten to link the save button to a function. It should work now in 0.2.1
Apikey entering does indeed need improving, a copy paste from the browser and then switching to the app each time with the key and ID is a hassle. Maybe a small windows (desktop) based app that would accept the key and ID and create the file needed, then the user would need to move the file to the phone.
Help with graphics would be much appreciated!

Yeah a desktop based app would be kill, or maybe a more simple approach would be to let people create a text file with the userid and api in it and give the application the ability to import it ? This gives users the option to get the key through either activesync, mail or download.
We should talk about the graphics though, how you want the app to look and also how you want the graphics to be delivered. You could also look into ui frameworks ____ Hi! |

Well, I took your advice and made an option to import the key. In the options window it can be selected. An inscruction to how the file should look like has been placed on the site. Only problem is the .Net framework doesnt allow you to look outside the "My Documents" Folder, so the .txt file needs to sit there to be imported.
Those UIs in the link look very nice, I have set my eyes on one of them, too bad there not for free. But ill see about that further on.
Cool to hear your using a dutch phone, im dutch myself! Not so cool that its crashing. Is this every time or randomly? I dont see how localization can effect the Framework, im not using anything special. Ill see if I can find someone with a dutch ROM and test it. Maybe you could reinstall the Framework and reboot the device and check if its still crashing.

One of the uid's is actually open source :) The crash was not specific to the .net framework I was using, I was a bit tired and did read it wrong it said I should download the NETCFv35.Messages.EN.wm.cab for more specific error messages. So I did and it seems to be a timeout problem, might be my connection though.
the download link is broken for 2.2 ____ Hi! |

The download link should work again, it could indeed be a No connection error. I havent been able to implement fail safes for that yet. If you can, you could try a WiFi connection to try it again.

There seems to be a problem. The loading is good and login is perfect. The problem comes in after that, I have 2 character profile in my account thus the display will show 2 character icon. I can only open the 1st character on the top but the bottom one can't select or click it. Please advise

Hi, the version you are using doesnt have the multiple characters activated yet, I didnt have a chance to test it back then. But I have been working on a new interface so i havent been able to work on the matter much. But I have made a version where you can change the character in the options panel. The interface isnt complete yet so not everything is working, but give it a try and maybe you will like it .

Ugh... seems I won't be able to help you out testing the software. I decided to upgrade the rom of my windows mobile device and it is now running 6.5. And somehow your application is victim of some compatibility issues that happen with some programs.
I'll still be available to help you out with any graphics if needed though. ____ Hi! |

Hey,
I am running the application on a Windows Mobile 6.1 device and all the info I can see is my character image and the skill I am currently training. No countdown timer, no queue, nothing. Of all the things on the left, I can only open the Wallet, which will accurately show me the amount of ISK I currently have, and then nothing happens when I click Load.
Am I missing something? Please help, the app looks awesome, I need it to actually work ..insert cool signature here.. |

I have been waiting and hoping for a developer type to hook this up for the last year. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm too late to try the beta. Oh well. I'm glad someone at least started it recently though.

Impressive little tool. But it has been mentioned before.
I still am annoyed a little by the tool sometimes, if development of this one is still on, I'd be very happy.

Very interested in this app, hoping to see something like 'Eve Skill Pocket' with the easy functionality and nice graphics.
Bout to download and try out 'EveM2 0.2.3 Release' -- I'll post back later with any thoughts or concerns. Bout time people start doing this for Windows Mobile devices.. stupid iPhone.. :)
Thanks again to the OP.

EveM2 0.2.3 Release Reviewed:
-Attributes showing all as 0's (Not important for me to see at all) -Icons on the left do nothing except wallet (Wallet does show correct amount) -Wallet 'Load' does nothing (Not a high priority for me)
Would like to see:
-Eve Server status -Better graphical UI -Character Sheet with currently trained skills -Progress bar for 'Currently Training' -Current skill queue line-up
Don't care to see:
-Eve news -Market transactions
Final Reviews:
Very good start on the program and I am excited to see where the future of this app goes. This will definitely help me with knowing when skills need to be flipped. :) Thanks again to the OP and keep up the good work!
