Mechcommander, Mechcommander Gold and Mechcommander 2 got released as freeware.
Mechcommander.org
That's a bit of time to waste.
Fable isn't free, but was fun and it's an action-rpg (sort of). I've seen it in a couple of bargain bins. The Witcher Morrowind&Oblivion from the Elder scrolls series should work on that machine. ______________________________________________ -My respect can not be won, only lost. Edited by: NeoShocker on 17/07/2009 06:23:10 You should get Star Wars: Tie Fighter. I recommend getting a joystick.
Also get Falloff 3, I believe the computer of yours will able to play it. ----------------------------------- Peace through power! |

If you like action-rpg then "Mass Effect" and "Fallout 3" are both very nice imho.
I have no experience with their performance on low end systems unfortunately, but they are both pretty recent games and thus could be a bit much for your machine. |

As suggested already, NWN2 (and Mast of the Betrayer!), Witcher Extended Edition and KOTOR1 & 2 are all great games and time killers extraordinaire. To add, if you want to go back a few more years, Baldur's Gate II (and expansion) is a great game, albeit less action and more RPG. Morrowind and Oblivion are also both very good and well worth a look. -------------

You could dig out the old Bioware/Black Isle Games that based on the Infinity Engine. Baldurs Gate 1+2 including their Expansions, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale 1+2.
That should be lots of hours of good Gameplay if you do not mind the outdated graphics.

I still have the original box but damnit I kept getting BsOD'ed about every hour or so. Still finished it so yeah, Tremere will rule the world!
As for the op: The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion (get the GOTY version). Vinilla is rather dull but if you get the most popular plugins the game just becomes amazing. You would be surprised what a diffrence a few enviromental and body plugins can make to the game. On an unrelated note, Kneel before Zod! |

Yep the half life series for storytelling alone. Also just played COD4 modern warfare. Good, but quite short as a single player game.

Have a go on the new Monkey Island game, it's a 5 parter, each being released soon. First part i just completed today, parts we're very hard to solve, but persistence pays off :)

HL isn't that good. I'm playing it myself at the moment and halfway though, it's not bad but it's not worth all the hype. Even at it's time there were better games, like Thief and Starcraft but it's not really much worse than those either, its nice but not that nice.
To the OP: Look for a thread by Johnny101 with a similar goal, he got some good suggestions.

Does anyone else think it would be smarter for CCP to make a single-player WoD rpg to test their metal before jumping into the deep-end with a WoD MMO?
CCP would be ideally positioned to make a Bloodlines sequel -even if it's only a 'spiritual successor' rather than a sequel per se; if only to hone their rpg talent.
But to the OP -yeah great game.

Install linux with the KDE 4 games to include Shisen-Sho, Flight of the Amazon Queen; Beneath a Steel Sky. If you install the ScummVM, you can play many of the old Lucas Arts games -including Digg.
For Windows... Halo: Combat Evolved Tomb Raider: Anniversary
Go to http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_demos.html And try out the demos until you find one you like and that your PC can handle.
