I have bought the adapter to plug my monitor into my mac. I am not interested in extending the display, just mirroring it so I can use my bigger screen. How can I get it to turn the display off on my macbook pro? The reason I am asking this is because it wont let me run my monitor at the correct resolution while mirroring the display.
I have found a way I can do it with the macbook closed and waking it up out of sleep with a usb mouse (sigh have to plug one in as i used a bluetooth keyboard and mouse and the bluetooth turns off in sleep), but I would rather have the screen open to help vent the macbook.
Cheers

I believe you have to change your resolution to match the second monitor.
However it doesn't work too well with 2 clients running on xp your fps will drop like a stone as i recall.

the easiest way, i think, would be to run in extended mode, make the external screen the primary monitor and play the game in full screen mode - then it'll black out the laptop display when you launch the game
otherwise you could try this: it used to be that you would start the macbook with the screen closed, as you are currently doing, and then you can lift the lid up, and it'll carry on just using the external screen. does that not work with the new ones?

Ahh yeh lifting the screen works, for some reason I thought it messed it up.
How do you set the external monitor as primary?

Actually, your system will run much cooler with the monitor closed on your Macbook Pro. When I play on my MBP that's what I do as EVE can really heat up the MBPs monitor :D

Doesn't it cook your monitor even more with the lid closed though?
