If you want to use .26 then give this a try
git clone git://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git wine-git cd wine-git git revert 1ac7576d477a6f22fa6d5758db6d8344d4bad1a9 git revert 09712593c8496be5e952b7316099f9eed5043203 ./configure && make depend && make sudo make install
If you have wine installed trough some package manager you should remove it before installing the git version. Basically this removes the commits which are causing the crash in space, i didnt do much testing tho - ill leave that to you ^^

I just type this in terminal?
git clone git://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git wine-git cd wine-git git revert 1ac7576d477a6f22fa6d5758db6d8344d4bad1a9 git revert 09712593c8496be5e952b7316099f9eed5043203 ./configure && make depend && make sudo make install
I'll try it tomorrow when i get back. Hope it works.

yep simple as that.
Just keep in mind to remove wine before you attempt to compile it and of course install all dependencies.
Easy way for debian/'buntu distros is doing an "apt-get build-dep wine"

As usual im a Linux noob and dont understand.
I write git clone git://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git wine-git takes some time and does something
xenome@XPSxenomeXPS:~/wine-git$
Comes back
git revert 1ac7576d477a6f22fa6d5758db6d8344d4bad1a9
then
fatal: Dirty index: cannot revert
Now what?

Edited by: Miraqu on 22/07/2009 06:40:37 Okay I'll try to do a little guide for ubuntu users. Using debian myself, should't be to vastly different.
1. build essentials sudo apt-cache update sudo apt-get build-essential git bison checkinstall
2. cloning git clone git://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git wine-git cd wine-git
3. depends sudo apt-get build-dep wine
4. revert git revert 1ac7576d477a6f22fa6d5758db6d8344d4bad1a9 git revert 09712593c8496be5e952b7316099f9eed5043203
5. compile (may take a while) ./configure && make depend && make
6. install sudo checkinstall
PS: (note that I use checkinstall because you don't need to keep the compiled wine for a make uninstall. You can easily uninstall it from apt/aptitude/synaptic. You will need to enter a version information and the name of the package, otherwise just stick to the defaults.)

Btw: Veskya did you do any major testing yourself or just (like me) take the commits from bugs.winehq?
------- Comment #16 From hpestilence 2009-07-10 00:46:24 -------
I found the commit that causes this
09712593c8496be5e952b7316099f9eed5043203 is first bad commit commit 09712593c8496be5e952b7316099f9eed5043203 Author: Alexandre Julliard <julliard at winehq.org> Date: Thu Jun 25 14:18:53 2009 +0200
ntdll: Release some address space after the process initialization is done.
I had to revert commit 1ac7576d477a6f22fa6d5758db6d8344d4bad1a9 ntdll: Disable releasing the address space on Mac OS since dyld doesn't support this. also in order to revert the first commit. Then I compiled the latest git and eve-online is running fine.

I found the commits on WineHQ, not much point in redoing the regression test when the commits are already known ^^

Starting EVE with an emulated desktop seems to have solved my problems (random crashes). Going to give it some more testing tonight to be sure.
Running Ubuntu 9.04 with Wine 1.1.26, and an ATI HD3650 with the latest Catalyst drivers from ATI (the drivers that came with Ubuntu seems to have problems with the HD3000-series).

One strange thing I noticed is that EVE under 1.1.26 correctly identifies my video card. 1.1.24 does not, it says i have a GeForce 6200. I'm not sure if 1.1.26 correctly interfaces with Powermizer (death to you, Powermizer) and 1.1.24 doesn't or what, or even if it affects framerates at all. Just a weird, probably harmless bug. |
