good work
although it baffles me how something as major as that does not crop up on the test center
its almost like its 2 totally different systems and or code versions between sisi and TQ whats the deal, not enough load to trigger massive bugs like that or what?
and not to bash Tuxford, but it it SOP to experiment on live (or about to go live) code?
really though good job on the quick fix The American public's reaction to the change was poor and the new cola was a major marketing failure. The subsequent reintroduction of Coke's original formula, re-branded as "Coca-Cola Classic", resulted in a significant gain in sales, leading to speculation that the introduction of the New Coke formula was just a marketing ploy |

Obviously a ninja buff for wormhole pilots, them being used to not relying on local for intel of course.
Should be interesting for people to see just how much the accurate relevance of local actually is important to them or not.
All for new inspirational tools and mods to drastically improve and make the scout/recon role specifically more relevant in the game to help make "local" less of an intel tool which is slightly meta by design atm. I do realise its relevance before "improvements" are made to IG intel being more of a reality however, but it would be nice to see EvE evolve more to an active player intelligence provison as opposed to a system wide conveniance aka local chat. |

I also love this chat 'fix'.
Right now I see Misanth and two other guys in local (there's 4 total), but only one is online. The other three is offline. To make it even better; player B and C is showing up in another chat channel, which Misanth doesn't. And in a third channel, Misanth appears but not B and C.
It's completely random, but it's very amusing. I love the 'fix' CCP, please come up with more of these! shiptoastin' liek a baws |

I'm just gonna stop bitching and wait those changes in the new dev log. Should they've been done before hitting TQ, yep I believe, however they're doing it ASAP so, it's also a very good point. |

in response to why the bugs weren't found on the test server:
when ever ive reported a bug on the test server to a dev or isd or what ever they like to be called there reply is simple 'make a bug report'
and my reply is even simpler 'i just made it, by telling you!'
but i sometimes forget they are only on the test server to clear hordes of drones and wrecks and to orbit the station at 20k kms and say hey everyone look how win i am in my **** little bug frig thing
rant over.....for now >_<

That's precisely it. The problem didn't manifest itself until thousands were online at the same time. Our engineers were at work way into the late evening working furiously to fix the problem, basically keeping the server alive with some sort of hero magic, while working on a permanent fix. The fix was then deployed late last night and allowed the server to be taken off life support.

Doesn't look like it's been a complete fix. Several folk in my corporation are logged off, but still appear in the Corporation and Local channels, even though the contacts watch list shows a red circle next to their names. One person appears to be logged in simultaneously with two characters from the same account, which should quite definitely be impossible. Relogging and clearing cache has no effect. It's most definitely a server-side thing.
But props for the speedy response. This release has had a rather unfortunate number of issues, but hopefully they'll be resolved over the next few days. |

In a way it's our fault for not hitting the test server so bugs like this can pop up.
This is why I say in software development "the best test is a field test".
Perhaps some incentive is needed to get people into the test server.

Am I the only one that likes having imperfect Intel? People have actually been out in space with other people in local for a change, usually they dock up or find an empty system.
Last night I saw more people running missions, belt ratting and mining than ever before in my life. I had always assumed these people were just permanently AFK features of certain systems, turns out they normally just cloak up or dock whenever anyone else is in local.
Seeing them out in space has been nice for a change, and it makes a nice change from the usual monotony of having to wait until they move systems and grab them on gate.

Haven't you been reading these posts? This is a terrible response time. What other game company would sell "Lag" as a feature.... I gotta be honest, you really don't seem to like eve, considering how much you strive to push people to unsub, and how much you **** all over CCP, even when they do things right.
Where have I insisted anyone unsub? And I call my phone/cable company and tell them when they are acting dumb and providing poor service, why wouldn't I for any service I pay for?
If you want to eat **** and call it steak, that is certainly your right. But if you think being all sunshine and roses is going to make a business work toward fixing issues, that have been going on for a long time....your out of touch with reality.
And read that post about working condtions within CCP, it pretty much sums up the problems.

why do they deserve praise for fixing something they broke? as far as i can tell NOTHING good has come from the last 2 major patches. and all CCP seams to want to do about it is tell the player to live with it. i see EVE going down hill at a nice clip already with making the video requirment so that some people were just left with out any way to play at all. no need for ccp to put a jet on to accelerate how fast eve burns and dies. |

I'm throughly enjoying this, and I would've loved if it was made static. Let everyone that ever logs off in a local show up until d/t. Perhaps then people will learn to live without local too.. shiptoastin' liek a baws |

I'm keeping track of all the crybabies in this thread and I will remind you of your posts if I ever see you speak in a "nerf local" thread. Cause right now local is useless for intel...and awesome. |

Well, it's still not fixed after DT.
It doesn't happen to every channel: I see my ghost alt in local and a busy channel, but not in corp chat.
And to Jones Bones, this could be a nice feature for local. But when it happens to corp chat and other social channels, it's very annoying. What happens in lowsec, stays in lowsec, lowering the barrier to entry to lowsec PVP: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=476644&#post476644 |

I swooned a little when I met them at work today.
well its progress making new expansions, they cant expect everything to be flawless and perfect it will never be like that until you give it some love, and people out there complain on the smallest simple things in life. You guys are doing what you can to make the show keep going and fix what ever issues can be dealt with swiftly the larger ones may take time but will be dealt with.
you guys are doing an awsome job in giving the game some new life, i personally hate that people complain over basicly something that can be fixed. Now atleast they can go out and breathe some fresh air and smell the flowers instead of sitting infront of the pc the whole time being ghostly white colored :) |
