We have seen many tourneys like this one. Ships flying around, killing each other. Heavy, fast action. A bit of drama. But is this really an EvE Tournament? No! This shallow exposure is lacking everything that we all love in our dear EvE Online.
The tournament needs to be changed, so that it better represents EvE: - both teams shall have POSes, killing the opponents' POS is required to win the match. - after the opponents' POS has been destroyed, the other team has to plant their own pos and then fuel it repeatedly until the sov scoreboard declares them winner. - at the start of each round, 2 doomsday devices shall be triggered on the arena grid, to ensure that every ship in this fight is equiped with a proper PvP fit - for every team it shall be allowed to set a "+10" relationship to any amount of other teams. Teams bound by these bonds of friendship shall all be allowed to enter the arena together. - if any of the allies of a team would win the tournament, this team and all its allies shall be collectively declared tourney-winner, taker of the #1 spot and greatest PvPers of EvE. - there has to be at least one station inside the arena area. I have personally queried a representative number of Privateers on this matter and they all agreed. - all teams that did not get assigned a personal spy for whatever reason, are required to post their strategy and fittings for the next round on these forums. Otherwise the rather small size of teams could eventually lead to an information state called "secret", never heard of in actual EvE.
Please act fast, or EvE might suffer a tragic demise very soon!

You forgot to include having a traitor in the midst of the team to disband the Alliance mid fight.

I would like to see a tournament that simulated a small fleet battle. You get something like 300points and up to 25 pilots. Arena size would be huge, like 1000k, with warping on grid allowed.
Cloaking and using probes would be allowed. If all of your ships are cloaked, however, you lose those ships. This would prevent the last ship from just cloaking.

If those rules were real we might as well have all of 0.0 be in the tournament.

I suggest scamming to be a valid tournament option.
Each team tries to scam the same person with a wide variety of scams.
Winners will be judged on creativity, effectiveness, and amount of tears produced.

I think OPs idea is rather stupid.
what you (OP) have written is EVE as it is. you don't need to organize a tournament for that, because that's what is going on every day in EVE.
The AT is a sporting event, not a reflection of EVE itself.
Your idea is a bit like that at the next football (soccer) WC it would be allowed to use motorcycles, quads, or any other vehicles to move on the field, and also to hit other players, but at the same time, yeah, players could have guns like knives (americans, canadians, and swiss also firearms) with them, and so and so and so. it would reflect life much better, though I think soccer never wanted to reflect life.
none of the sports wants to.
AT is sport with strict rules that are unlike "normal".
my 2 cents.

So kind of like this tournament then?

This tournament based on an internet spaceship game blowing each other up set in the far reaches of space is not realistic i agree.
GL fitting blowing up a pos into a truely epic match which people are supose to watch and not get bored of
