Do you have to keep purchasing clones every time you die? I just want to make sure that I don't lose any skill points. Or is it that once you purchase a certain level clone you can die all the time and won't lose that clone level?
Thanks,

All clones you buy, no matter how good it is, you'll need to keep buying new clones afterwards.
You buy a Good Clone. You die. Good Clone gets activated. Company is so nice to give you a free Bad Clone. You buy a new Good Clone in order to remain on the 'Good' side.

So in other words in order to maintain my skill points after I die and enter my new clone, I need to turn around an purchase a new clone?

Yup, that's the EVE "death penalty". Pay in ISK for new clone, or pay in some SP, your choice

If you get podded with a clone that holds less SP than you have, you lose up to 5% of the difference from your skill with the most number of SP in it.
As long as you DONT get podded, you can accumulate SP normally even with the basic 900k clone.
Pro-TipÖ: Dont ever, ever, ever undock without an up to date clone.

I remember once having to travel 12 systems in an out dated clone in newly hostile 0.0, and passing through a gate camp, with all that heart pounding to only realise "Oh hey that's not a 0!" ________________________________________________

So another question then...you don't die unless someone blows up your escape pod correct?
Just verifying, because my Merlin was blown up, I got away in my escape pod yet I lost all of my implants...I think...
How do you find out if you currently have a "clone" I want to make sure I'm safe guarded, or that I'm not bugged...

If your escape pod gets away then no, you don't have to buy a new clone, and no you didn't lose your implants. I also believe you get a mail that your pod has been activated whenever you get podded (bit it's pretty easy to tell if you get podded because you autotravel to the station where you clone is kept).

Nod. If you got podded and went to your clone station automagically, you lost your implants. If you were in your Merlin then in a pod and then somewhere safe -- you have your implants.
