magical solution number 2: Get a browser that doesn't try to auto-execute a .jpg file the same as a .exe without warning you.
OK, it looks like they are trying to stop the spam. -exe was filtered.

Pretty sure there's a browser plugin that can disable links, if they can do it for emails it isn't going to be rocket science.

Come on, they can't even do something as simple as remove isk spammers (suggested fix here) ingame, yet you expect them to be able to fix their forums!

Was just about to post what the OP says.
Stop all links bing linkified for the time being, until a better plan is in place than the capcha.
If anyone wants to follow a link they will need to retype it into their browser, which at least requires someone to put a bit of thought into what they are doing rather than blindly stabbing a link. |

They could just to like Blizzard did for the World of Warcraft forums. Whenever a link points to a file, they redirect you to a page with a big disclaimer that you're about to open an external file and that it may contain viruses etc... You then have to click a button to go to the file.
They let you see images and non-harmful files directly, but any file that could be a potential virus goes to that page. |

Perhaps CCP should go the 'MM moan route', you can't post here unless you are A) Important in your own underpants or B) part of an alliance that is bigger than 500 people .. or something.
Certainly should at least require a better than n00b corp existence. |

So brand new players will no longer be able to post their questions in the appropriate forums in order to learn to play the game better?
You had a big bowl of Stupid Flakes for breakfast didn't you?
Please stop posting before you make yourself look like an (even bigger) idiot. |

Ok then they can only post in the New Citizens forum but then it would open itself up to spam in there and ruin it for newbies. Either way its long overdue for new forums or major security overhaul for accounts and these forums |

*Ahem*
Maybe get an anti-virus that will actually block the trojans, etc?
I love how it gives the notification bar to install flash, yet 1) I have flash installed, and 2) it's an IE notification, and I'm using firefox.
But yes, a decent antivirus (Avast!, AVG, etc) will do the trick, especially ones with a web scanner (Avast has one for free). Keep it updated, surf without worries. |
