I know I am missing something, and thus i am turning to the forums.
I checked the difference between Mining Drone T2 and Harvester Mining Drone. And I honestly can't tell the difference. Could someone enlighten me please.

Harvesters take 10mb/s and m^2, and harvest 30m^3, 5m^3 more than t2 mining drones. They are also a lot slower (250m/s compared to the 500m/s of t2 mining drones) ________________________________________________ For changes to Minmatar Battleships click here (also with a review of the Muninn!) |

So another quick question. Is the amount and speed difference just a player's preference? I mean if someone prefers to have the drones move quicker than have more hauling but slower.

Depends how close you get to the asteroid.
The closer you are, the more likely you are to be able to get a higher yield with Harvesters.
You also have to remember that on most mining ships, you have to lose a flight of combat drones for harvesters, whilst you can keep a flight of lights and a flight of t2 mining drones in a 50m^3 drone bay. ________________________________________________ For changes to Minmatar Battleships click here (also with a review of the Muninn!) |

Ah thank you my dear, I didn't take that into consideration. Interesting that the Harvesters require 10 points of bandwidth.
Thanks again for the advice and help.

Most people who mine with drones will park right next to the asteroid anyway (because any time lost to drones flying around is lost productivity.)
However the real problem with Harvester Mining Drones is their ridiculous price because (as I understand it) they no longer drop any more and they were never manufacturable.
They're expensive enough (~70 million+ isk each) that people may grief you just because they'd be a juicy loss (or on the offchance of looting a couple), and there's always the chance of losing them to rats/general carelessness as well. It's very hard to justify the meager extra returns that they give compared to their price.
