No doubt this has done before but what new tech items would you like to see in EVE?
Here are some ideas I had:
Reflector Beacon - An expensive, limited life beacon that camoflages a WH or exploration site and makes them much harder (not impossible) for another to find. Tracking Device - Again expensive and ltd life but launched from cloaked covert ops and enables a player to track another from any ship fitted with midslot tracking device. Perhaps counterable by station sweep for bugs.
APPLICATIONS Out of game email on POS attack.
Basic app that let's you login for skill changes only.
Feel free to rip my ideas apart - add your own :-)

ONLY if it requires the mission runner to be within 5k of the wreck, and the booby trapping is chance-based like salvaging

Only when the booby trap causes CONCORD aggression as every other offensive action in highsec. -------- Ideas for: Mining

I'd agree with it being chance based bit not to Concord agression because ummmm who would use it if that was the case?
Ninja salvaging is too risk free IMO.

A limited life scanner beacon or probe you can deploy in the next system to your own that would report ship movements in that system.
Beacon or probe would only be usable by ships that have a bonus to scan strength, would need a special skill-book to use and each level would increase the range of the scanning area. Also only one beacon or probe could be in use at any one time in any one system and by any one ship.
If a probe it could be launched by a special launcher at a gate where it would warp through the gate and deploy to a limited point on the other side and would only last say 30 minutes. The beacon would have to be deployed by the ship itself but would last say until the next downtime.
The feedback would appear on a single tab on your overview that you could have a limited subset of settings to modify the view.
Reasons, the intel could be used by solo players to report on activity over hi-sec to low-sec gates making more players willing to make the jump, it would also make travel better for roaming gangs and provide useful feedback for alliance and corporations when a war-dec is on.

Organic Hulls that heal themselves. These would have a base rate of armor and hull heal like the ships today have base rate of shield regeneration. (You'd probably need new organic based modules to go with them).
Thoughts expressed are mine and mine alone. They do not necessarily reflect my alliances thoughts.

So once someone finds it it's all theirs? Don't like the idea of having to fight for your safety? OK, you need a compromise then. Any ship in said plex has their signal strength doubled, so are easier to scan down. You can hide your plex, but only when you're not in it It should have no effect on wormholes though.

Someone keeps chasing your missions down and you want to keep an eye on them, huh?

Thats an amazing idea. Its astonishing no-one's thought of that before and put it some sci-fi space show.
We should do that with EVE and call it.....SpaceWindow: Atlantica. Someone will need to find us a witty computer expert, a loyal yet handsome main character, an exotic female (able to do the splits is a req), who, for reasons unkown, is an awesome fighter and a man with long hair who has a deep voice (also a beard is preferable).
IT'LL BE A HIT.

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 25/07/2009 11:19:56 I don't like the exploration site disguise unit one bit but the others by OP have merit. The skill change app especially, because I could manage skills from my laptop which can't support Shader 2. I'd still prefer a 12-month skillqueue for paying customers though. Hell I'd pay three times the annual subscription cost for access to this (for the one year I'd actually use it [2010].)

Oh the hypocritical battlecry of the carebears.
How hypocritical? Would only be hyprocritical if I ninja salvaged. I'm not saying it should be made impossible just not the annoying risk free enterprise it currently is. If some wrecks could be booby trapped to non-fleet for a limited time I think it would at least slow down some people and be a lot of fun to watch
Maybe you could fit a scanner to scan/defuse booby trapped wrecks if you're ninja'ing but this would at least slow down those non-carebears(?) who can't/won't run their own level 4 missions.

It's hypocritical because mission running is about as risk free as ninja salvaging is, And with this suggestion you're trying to make it even more so. |

Heh - well you must have more skills than I! Not yet reached a point where these are risk free - I have to pay close attention and often have to warp out. I still hold that this would be more fun though

lvl 4s are as easy as lvl 1s were in a destroyer. lvl 2s in cruisers and 3s in BCs were far more difficult.
I switch off between (right and left), ninja'ing and mission running. They're both carefree with hardly any risk.
The risk to a mission runner? A ninja salvager or mission buster will come along, the moron MR shoots them, and loses his mission fit ship.
The risk to a ninja salvager? A mission runner has a corpmate nearby, or a web/scram on his ship and actually blows up his salvage ship.
(Unless you're a moron in +500mill isk ship) the cost of loss by either party is easily made up for with insurance and a mission or two.
Personally, I'd like to see difficulties adjusted more accordingly. Way too many ships of smaller classes in missions ruin it (imo) for new players with bad skills. Need more 'like classed' ships in mission, less of the classes below and above. ♥

Wormhole scanner. A device that lets you analyse a wormhole and gives you estimates of the time and mass remaining. It should at first only give them accurate to +/- 20%, but T2, faction, and T3 versions could give more precise figures.

I think he's referring to the ridiculously easy risk-free profession that is mission running. Name one other activity that requires no skill yet can get you 30 mill ISK/hour with no risk.
