Hi All,
I just lost my BS on a level 2 mission.
I was quite happily sitting there working through the waves tanking the damage and salvaging as I went.
I killed the trigger for the next wave a bit too early and got swarmed. Decided to wimp out and recharge the cap & shields in station. However the ship would not warp. Started to panic as damage headed into armor and tried to warp to a gate instead - opposite direction. Nope ship would just accelerate for a bit and then turn around accelerate a bit and repeat as if trying to go around an invisible Asteroid.
Quick scan of the overview no scramblers in effect - its a level 2 mission after all. After about 5 minutes bang ship is gone.
Could anybody shed any light on this? Is this normal in any way - have I missed something. I've already done several level 4's without problems. What gives?

I have to ask, wth were you doing flying a BS in a level 2 mission? And then end up loosing it?

level two missions are much better done with cruiser or battle cruisers as they can apply the damage to the small things.
as for the not warping - possible you were stuck in an object which meant you couldn't warp, or you didn't wait long enough to let it get to warp.
the DPS in a level two is very small, i suggest if you are flying a battleship, to at least fir a battleship tank, so if you do do this again, you won't die.
waht ship were you in and your fitting? i'm sure many ppl will be happy to politely indicate where you were going wrong

Cheers guys. I'm just after clarification really. I'm a long way from home and just trying to improve standing so sat there in a BS with no guns killing everything with drones. Been doing this for days no problem the tank just soaks it up etc etc etc. All easy stuff.
Must of been sat there about 10 mins in total trying to get the ship to move. Wouldn't even accelerate up to max speed and no objects on overview or visible so its just a case of does anyone feel this could be caused, specifically the unable to move/warp, by anything genuine/intential in game?

Not really sure what happened there for you, but I've seen similar where I make a poor estimation of how long it will take to warp out. Really it sounds like to me the best thing to do in that situation is (if you have time) to cancel warp, fly straight up or something for a km or two, then try warping again.
Like I said not sure what happened to your ships warp.

My guess is, you got bumped by the warp-in beacon.
You wonŠt see it normally on the overview unless you altered the overview settings. When you try to go through it accidentally, the ship starts bugging around and just wonŠt stop. It happens occasionaly, and the solution is simply to stop your ship, move manually away a bit, then align again.
That doesnŠt happen all too often, because normally you will land several kilometers away from it, just sometimes you land directly next to it and when you try to move you get bumped.
But, it is still no excuse for loosing a battleship in a level 2 mission.

Even with the very bare minimum of skills required for any ship (t1 tank) this should not have happended.

What is a BS doing in a lvl 2 mission? They turn slower than a real life tank and you can't shoot anything small unless you have rocket launchers installed and have leveled out on tech 2 drones.
Sorry to be harsh, but use a cruiser.

Bumped by swarm of frigs orbitting you or by the warp in beacon.
Solution would have been to move the ship manually up or down for about 30 seconds and then trying to warp again.
Logging out is also likely to have worked. ---

I now feel guilty, I was overly harsh.
Yes, I confess, I did use a BS for lvl 3 missions. I would never do it again, ever. It took me forever to kill the frigs that were webbing me. That was a while back before the warp scraming frigs. (I didn't want to waste time training BC.)
In this game I found that short cuts aren't always the best way to go.
TBH a Domi is perfectly fine for any level of mission. It can carry the most backup drones and bonuses affect all drone types.
Though, if he wasn't in a Domi he pulled a stupid. And he didn't specify so...
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

You can zoom in/move camera and see what it is your bumping/hung up on. You can then select the item and choose to move away from it or click to move away from it.
Load onto your overview the tranversal so you can see what your trying to hit with turrets etc. Use the right sized drones - eg small to take out frigates, meds to take out bigger. The battleships all have 75 mtr or more drone space, ie enough to run 5 of each - even the amarr battleships! If you galentre you should run the domi drone boat (as using drones to kill stuff) as has the +10/lvl damage bonus.
If runing a battleship you should have some tank. 1x lar (best named if not T2, amarr/true sansha if want a bit better for more isk) plus some hardners gives 300+ dps tank - plenty for almost all lvl 4's, let alone a lvl 2. Even if the mission had nos/neut, the battleships cap should have been sufficent to overcome any lvl 2 drain of cap.
What were your drones doing? If had correct drones out, they should have been easily slaughtering the npc's even if you had shot the trigger. I'm guessing had wrong sized drones out and they couldn't track the npc's they were targeting - eg heavies vs targeted frigates. Heavies work fine on battleships sized npc's, but smaller and the meds will do better. I dont see many battleship npc's in lvl 2's. Meds vs frigates are slow, much better with small drones.

I've used a BS to farm level 2s before, mostly for the lulz of letting everything in the room group up on me and then popping off several large smart bombs and seeing how long it takes before I approach a reasonable frame-rate again. I'm also lazy and didn't care to buy and fit a smaller ship since I was plowing my way to get access to level 4s with a new corp.

If this isn't a troll post, you may have been blocked by an object. I've encountered invisible objects at some (hacking) sites that blocked my movement. I've never found one in a mission site though.

My guess, like others, is that you got caught on some object in space so couldn't accelerate or turn to warp etc which would mean raising a value petition.
As for the tank issue the only mission I can think of is one othe the ones where they get you to "go take a look" at something.
I can't remember which it was but there was one that shreads even a drakes tank if you engage the NPC's in the pocket because you're not suposed to. --
If there's no profit to be made you need to travel further afield.

Went in there with my abaddon with a 850 dps Dual rep EM/Thermal tank and they broke it.
I refused to be forced to warp out in a level 2 missions so I stayed and fought till the end. They got me as low as ~30% armor before my tank evened out.
Was rather fun, and the loot was good.

Hello All,
Thanks to everyone who posted back. Reading through all the responses there are 3 general themes and I think my question is answered.
Theme 1 - Laugh at the Guy who Just Lost a BS on a Level 2 Mission
Firstly I certainly wasn't laughing at the time but it is funny. I shouldn't have got in that mess.
Theme 2 - Just Criticise ETC
For those that just posted negative comments. Come on guys. It take all sorts but look at how positive and helpful some of the comments were compared to yours.
Theme 3 - Helpful Comments
Those that actually posted some constructive feedback. Cheers to you all.
FURTHER INFO
For those commenting on the tank/skills.
Yes it should have been able to take the damage however it wasn't correctly tanked. I was simply trying to get up to level 4 missions in a new corp as quickly as possible so didn't want to go all the way back to where I normally run missions to go and pick up my modules. Lazy I know but I'd been doing level 2's all day without any problems as you might expect so didn't expect to have to worry. Vasundhara has my thinking exactly. I think it took around 200K before it popped.
For those that posted useful comments about objects in space.
Firstly many thanks. What I really needed to know is had I missed something. Perhaps I had been warp scrambled and was too inexperienced to know it. Most of you focus on moving the ship and I'd just like to stress I gave that a good try. I couldn't get the ship to move in any direction for longer than about 10 seconds without stopping and spinning around. A lot like when you warp to a gate and jump there is sometimes a brief spin at a rediculous speed.
As some said I should have just completed the mission and this would have been fine however I panicked and concentrated on getting out with my drones now in my bay. That was a bad move.
MOVING ON....
After about an hour of sulking I attempted to buy another ship to complete the mission. This ship was ~ 5 hops away and I made this just fine in my pod. On the return leg I got back to the station I was using in the mission system and it wouldn't dock. Ship just sat there outside the station low and behold not moving. So I exited the client and went back in and after coming out of warp all was fine. Completed the mission and all fine since then.
So for those that suggessted just log off; Yeah that would probably have worked too in more ways than one. Damn but that is useful to know.
Cheers to Daedalus80 Haraukiae Ankhesentapemkah Zeetchmen Irdia Vasundhara Wonka Wily TheBlueMonkey comrade |

One more thing needed, an attention span. I lost a perma tanked Domi in a L4 last night. Was having a heck of a time with disconnects and getting irritated with the fact that I was losing more on lost drones than I was earning. Well after about the third one of these, I apparently forgot to turn the tank on before shifting my attention back to my salavager in the previous room. Imagine my dismay seeing the pod and wreck once I switched back to the Domi account
I equate it to the PVE version of meta-gaming when I constantly get booted, funny thing was the other account never dc'd so I cant really blame it on my ISP.

This is sad.
Next time, check that you're warping properly and not obstructed. Never think you're unbeatable even in an L1... with the wrong tank.
