Greetings,
We have just put in place two new features in our war on the evil **** spammers.
Firstly, when reporting posts, images are turned off in the post which is being displayed. This should save any of you who have been diligently reporting this spam from the wrath of your workplaces etc.
Secondly, any external link to a none CCP site will now run through the following page:
CLICK MEH FOR FREE STUFF
This page will display the REAL URL in the link and has nice big shiny red warning letters to help stop people following links to potentially harmful sites.
However links to pages on CCP sites such as:
CLICK ME FOR LEGIT STUFF
Will still work fine as they are on a whitelist, in the future more sites may be added to this list but for now it's just CCP sites.
I will be closely monitoring these changes and their effects on the spam in general.
Toodles

(actually that doesn't prove much as I could've just linked directly to the externalLink.aspx file, but I didn't. Is it worth me petitioning ways of getting around this new system?)

I really hate this sort of "Nanny State" type of "protection". All it does is slow down my interwebz surfing, and doesn't really stop idiots from still clicking on to the new site.
Those that were stupid enough to click the links before this change are the same group who are stupid enough to click on the link in your new system. There really is no way to protect the stupid from themselves.
Please allow us to have a toggle in our forum options to turn this off. OFC have it on by default, for the false sense of security and plausible denialbilty it provides you at CCP with.
---
Kudos at least for being proactive and trying, I just think your current "solution" is useless. --

Tbh this^ (without the being useless part since it sorta is a superdupperbaby sit for the real stupid ones.)
Really, lets hold the hand of those who cannot be bothered to engage brain, use the most vulnerable to viri OS on the planet, in combination with the most useless browser ever.
Cheers! Hugging my Mac now.
Ps: Would be real nice if you could filter out Chribba and other known trusted sites from your "spam filter".

Click me for legit stuff that registers as non-legit and doesn't lead where it should...
The link was supposed to be to "?a=topic&threadID=774785", which automatically would register as "http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=774785" before, but obviously, no longer does...

Please disable this 'feature' for links that lead back to your own forums, and give us the option to disable it ourselves on the forum settings page. It is intensely annoying.
For now, I'm offering a 100m isk reward for the first person to create a greasemonkey script that reverses the change, to be posted in this thread:
http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1132504
I've left the above url untagged so that the threadID doesn't get eaten, safe in the knowledge that linkification users will still be able to click it and follow it as normal, unaffected by the new system. --- 34.4:1 mineral compression ISRC Racing, Season 7 - schedule |

While you could do that, and if you still have interest in it let me know, (I don't mind free isk) I figured this might be an more apt solution: Redirect Remover

Anyway we can get legitimate community websites validated by CCP?
Also, what about making an automatic feature for corporate and alliance websites, eg after 1-3 months a corporation's or an alliance's website is automatically added.

Yeah, I woke up and realised it was as much a valueless cop out as the Vista Windows Guardian.
"Bill Gates does not want to accept his rightful responsibility for making something that will happily brick itself through reasonable use through him allowing somebody else that you don't know to unreasonably access your computer. Please click here to absolve the swine who is happy to accept your money, but not your problems, from any responsibility".
Yeah. I can foresee more of this in the future. "Bill Did It".
And once you've put the "Bill Defence" into your software product you can basically stop worrying about malware you are happily delivering.
