Today we unleash a video unlike any we have done before: a video showcasing the essence of EVE. This story could be your story or it could be your friend's story--the friend you showed this video to which inspired them to check out EVE and pilot a lone Wolf through a remote asteroid belt...
This is "The Butterfly Effect." This is your EVE. Show everyone you know.

yeah, seriously, the holographic images and things that have been in the past two videos are far too awesome to not have as the actual UI.
and the video was pretty sweet, it feels like a return to form, showcasing the things about eve that make it eve, instead of some empire battles that no one will follow. __________________________________________________ I was Amarr before they were the FOTM and I'll be Amarr after it! After watching the video I think you dev guys have a very skewed impression of the 'essense' of eve. In that scenario you are just as likely to get podded by the relief force as you are invited to be their bestest buddies in the whole world. The miner would likely continue to mine oblivious to the aggro as he is, in fact, a macro running on someone's 2nd or third account and the 'epic hero victory' you inconceivably won against the pirates would likely have resulted in your instant miserable death and subsequent podding - but let's say it didnt, does the loss of 1 hulk matter to the macro miner overlord? Nah he's got 10bn isk a day coming in from his corps monpoloy on T2 BPO research and his macro mining enterprise. You'd probably just get ignored if you tried to message him anyway, as he doesn't have time to deal with 'n00bs'. Sheesh.

I think you missed the point of the entire video. The whole point was to show that you make your own choices and those choices can directly affect other people within the game. Just look at some of the events that have happened recently (most famous being the BoB disbandment). One person changed EVE's landscape in an instant. That's only possible on EVE.

Edited by: Axel grease on 29/07/2009 17:10:23 Apologizes but this is a far cry from the new player experience, I love eve and the sandbox experience, but any new player who stuck out the trial can tell you this just inst a acruate representation within the first months of the game.
any decent corp will require 6million sp, and you will need at least 6million sp to do anything decent in eve pretty much, and it takes (with the exception of the double xp) one month under the best learning standards to pickup 1million sp, so your looking at anything from 7-9 months of doing nothing but skill training (what else are you going to do missions for 9 months? that gets old fast for a sandbox) and subbing for nothing but the skill training.
in closing I suggest you work on the game not your videos.

Very visually pleasing video, and I imagine quite tantilizing for prospective players.
I agree with some here that this might not present a very probable situation, but it does highlight the interconnected relationships and potential rewards of helping strangers that are definite aspects of the EVE universe.

Utterly false. I had great times and great battles with well under 6 million SP. And my character is still under 9 months old. I can safely say you have no idea what you're talking about.
I'll have to just assume you're butthurt about not getting into some random "pro pvp" corp.

I am merely being a bit sarcastic. Yes the Video is well made, but because of multiple reasons, both game mechanic and the attitude of most players here, something like that would never happen.

FINALLY some reasonable description of Eve.
Much much muuuuuuuch better than this stupid crap Nyx crashing into a station on an advertisement and saying that this is Eve.
This new "Butterfly Effect" is so MUCH better.
Reminds me at the old goon ad which was pretty similiar (can't remember the exact phrase though): because you tackled something in a frig, he was late. because he was late, something other happened etc. etc. and because of that an alliance died.
Nicely transformed that into a good video. \o/

Nice vid, too bad everything besides the narrators voice is bulls***... The kool lookin' UI stuff, we don't have. The backdrops looked like the new ones, which we don't have. Wormhole space does, but I doubt all this was happening in WH space... I spotted a planet in there that looked pretty as well, and we all know that's a lie. --------------------------- I have to make my own sig break? WTF? A very good video, would love to see some of those UI effects actually in the game.
For those arguing the 'probability' of someone aiding a miner - well its a bit like quantum theory isnt it - it might be unlikely but in EVE all possible outcomes could exist.
