Hi there,
is it possible to aquire your character's location (system id or something alike) via the Eve API? I know that the IGB includes the location in the request header it sends to trusted sites, but I'd like to have some way to track my character without having to update the location manually.
Best regards, Hugo

There's only one API I'm aware of, which reveals character locations: http://wiki.eve-id.net/APIv2_Corp_MemberTracking_XML.
But you a) need appropriate roles in your corporation to use that API and b) it's cached one hour.
So, probably this is not what you're looking for. -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

Hi there,
I'm looking for a such similar function. I'd like to find a way to extract your current location (system / nearest gate / celestial) using API or IGB or any else method (even memory scan, why not) then copying the variables in the clipboard. My main goal is to make some predefined messages like : "Need help asap [SYSTEM] [GATE]". without typing all the bull****.
Yep, sounds impossible, but you have my request :}

I suppose you know that if you are in a fleet there are predefined broadcast messages which do just that, right?

by time you open the ingame browser you'll probably already be dead. API is cached for 6 hours, so its not really much use. Plus, I tend to ignore such distress calls, they just tend to get even more killed.

While faster than typing/linking, you can drag/drop the system from the upper left triangle in the UI. It won't list the gate.
