Announcement made YC 111 on the 1st of August.
----------------------
ô2349 years....ö States an old man, whose robes of office are symbolic of the higher level of old Raata nobility.
ô2349 years ago the Raata Empire fell and spawned the first of the old States of our homeworld.ö On the screen behind the old man the history he speaks of is played out.
ôAges passed... the Caldari meet the Gallente, their ideals and ours clashed.ö After saying this, the old man takes a moment to gather his thoughts.
ôThe war that followed was devastating, billions were lost, our homeworld burned.ö At this the old man frowns for a short moment before schooling his face back into order.
ôFrom the ashes of this war, rose the Caldari Sate, ruled by the Mega corporations that survived the war.ö The old man nodes to those representing mentioned Mega corps.
ô111 years have passed since the Great War ended, in this time much of our history has had to be rewritten. But we have held on to much that would otherwise have been lost to the teeth of time.ö At this the old man looks as if heÆs considering his words, finding nothing wrong with them he continues.
ô4 years ago we of House Winter began our return to space, from which we had become isolated by our own distrust of outside forces. In these 4 years we have seen much, made many friends and some foes.ö The old man scans the crowd to see if he can spot some the people mentioned.
ôEarly this morning the decision was made by House Winter to form the Imperial Raata Directive, an alliance in which to gather the scattered remains of the old Raata Empire and re-establish it as sovereign state of its own.ö The old man looks oddly both proud and sceptical at this point.
ôBefore us is a long road, let us walk it together for the greater good of the whole, for only as one can the many get great works done.ö Nodding the old man settles down to start receiving questions.

Announcement ends.

I really doubt that you, Tomahawk, are anyone's old friend after joining anarchists. _________________

It is good to see there are still those who remember our past and the strength we once had.

What worries me most is that I see this not as an old empire trying to rise again, but as an direct intervention of Caldari politics by Amarr by a proxy. There's a good reason why Caldari abandoned Imperialistic ways in exchange for Corporate totalitarianism in the first place. It seems people have forgotten the past.
I sincerely hope that Imperial Raata Directive will publicly denounce any ties to Amarr or Amarr loyalists. Imperialistic Caldari I can stomach, but not some Amarr puppets.

Hmmm, Rin Kaeda has a point or two there, though all I can say is that at this point the extent of the IRD's reliance on Amarr is merrily that of a small entity living of large entities higher market needs.
The fact that the Amarr also run by an imperial is a convince, makes for an hour less explaining of how the IRD dose things.
Personally, I am content with businesslike nods and talk from most races, even the Gallente if the deal is good. Though I wont hide the fact the I personally have a whole different price list to use for the Gallente.
Though on an official note I'll simply say that this is one of many matters that will be addressed once the IRD's governing system is fully operational.
The Raata Empire of old was not built in a single night, not will it be re-established in one. *------------------------------------------------* *------------------------------------------------* "The wealth of nations lies not in gold or arms, but in the vigilance of its people." |

Raata fell more than 3,000 years ago, splitting into various smaller states across Caldari Prime. It was not a switch from Imperial to Corporate (and Corporate totalitarianism is a bit of a stretch); there are a myriad of intervening events that definitely included a period of representative democracy (time in the Federation) as well as various other forms of governance.
History will show that the Caldari Corporations form the core component of the modern State, not because that is the traditional Caldari way of governance, but rather because of convenience and lack of any other structure outside the Federation's own.
For someone referencing "the past" you apparently require a refresher course.

Yes, they fell in the now almost forgotten history of Caldari but it was still the starting push into what Caldari governance is today, and I don't have any problem with that actually, they do their job very, VERY efficiently.

And this "convenience and lack of" is exactly why I'm worried that IRD will fall to Amarr and in the end be just a puppet which strings are controlled by no else than the "Empress" Jamyl Sarum herself , there is a stronger word I'd use but I'm a gentleman of honor to some degree.
The future actions of IRD will show what way they will fall. If they - as I said in my first post - publicly denounce any and all ties with Amarr Empire and any loyalist groups , it will show that they have a backbone they aren't afraid to keep straigth. On the other hand if they keep formal relations to Amarr Empire they will sooner or later, probably a lot sooner than later be my enemies.
