It used to just go *poof* and that is what I still want it to do. It makes looting take a lot longer to keep having to close that window, after waiting for it to reopen my cargohold, every time I loot a wreck.
Seems like such a simple fix. |

Its simple to fix really.
1. Stop looting (loot is nerfed, and new UI makes it take longer to do anything) 2. Run another mission in the time you would loot 3.......( or ***** about new UI) 4. Profit |

The last can window wont close, it will remain open or revert to ship cargo. Depending if ship cargo was open before the looting started.
And anyway, loot all took what, .5 sec to loot and remove window before, now you loot all, and then wait 2-3-4 sec for a window to understand its empty, close and go to next one. And this is a best case scenario, couse sometimes it craps itself and doesn't refresh the window and you are stuck waiting for a empty window to go away on its own.
If the same function as before takes few times longer to do, it aint an improvement. Not to mention, why cant this new and smart UI remember a window i want to open in a specific location by itself and not forcing shift+lmb on everything. |

I can see Your concern, but what about rethinking Your looting strategy?
I for one, salvage everything first, and then loot all the cans.
Double-click Can, Loot All, Double-click next can, Loot all
Doing this You don't have to close the inventory all the time. The previous can closes automatically and after finishing all cans just close the window once.
BUT its true, it would be much easier the old way...
The new inventory is DIFFERENT, but it looks very promising. It needed more testing and attention though... if they would just make another option to eve where You can enable:
"Always open Cargoholds of Wrecks/Cans in new window"
Hot Keys:
"Open Cargo Hold of current ship in new window" - without having to open UInventory "Open Drone Bay of current ship in new window" etc.
But... yeah, for now You have to either stop doing things which need more effort because of the new inventory or rethink Your strategy. Shouldn't happen in a paid game, but meh, look at Blizzard, they are worse, releasing singleplayer games in online-only mode, having too less server capacity etc. etc.
Lets just hope CCP will adress the missing features in the new inventory and fix bugs, like windows are not saved in station. I have to open Item Hangar + Ship Hangar all the time anew |

Shift - click = window opens Shift - doubleclick = wreck closes?
What happens with two shifts and a triple click?
Fireworks?
I need to take notes.
You know, aside from chatting or splitting stacks, I don't regularly touch my keyboard when playing EVE. At all. For me, this is mostly a mouse-only game.
I even petitioned CCP not that long ago to add a clickable counter to the stack splitting / item sale popup so that those activities wouldn't interrupt the flow of a mouse-only game BECAUSE they're the only times I have to use my keyboard. (Of course they told me to post it in the forums, contact the CSM, and promptly closed my petition. But that's not the point.)
From where I'm sitting, all these "shift - click, it's easy" and "shift - doubleclick, that'll do it" responses seem crazy. Every time I have to touch the keyboard AT ALL is a new interruption in my workflow that didn't previously exist.
This is a completely separate matter from the hordes of other issues with the UI - mostly stemming from it's one-windowed design. It's already taking 3x the clicks to do what took 1 click last week.
And now I just think its hilarious that the proposed solution to this loss of efficiency is to add a new repeating "grab the keyboard and use the shift button in the dark" 1000x per night. All while you're squinting, scrolling, resizing, and bi*ching.
Oh yeah. Supah efficient.

Get yourself a 4 button mouse and do what I've done, assign [Shift] to one of the spare buttons (I use the thumb one), then you can shft-click or shift-double-click with just the mouse.

Double-click Can, Loot All, Double-click next can, Loot all
That is how i was doing from the day 1 with noctis, when all i have around me were cargo cans, open 15-20 of them in 1 window, and spam loot all. As you loot a can it vanishes and next one becomes primary. It was fast as hell, then open new cans or go away on other business. This was the fastest method to do it. Looting live wrecks were a lot slower then looting cans.
With new UI it made me stop salvage and loot operations completely.
On ship hangar issue, open one window as station cargo, other window as ship hangar, undock and ship hangar becomes ship cargo. Redock and ship cargo is now primary station cargo window. And its frustrating as hell.
If you use station cargo window at a half screen size, and ship cargo at 3x3 items size, once ship cargo becomes station cargo, drag and re-size stuff all the time. Fighting UI more time then anything else. |

I am running sleeper anomalies in a WH. I have to be able to GTFO quickly, and the loot is worth quite a bit of ISK. So it doesn't make a lot of sense to me to just "rethink my strategy" into waving my precious loot where 0.0 WH pvpers can come gank me (more easily because I don't have local and no probes on a noctis, just "speed tank")
So no. Thanks for the suggestion, but I think what you salvage and what I salvage are not the same, in terms of the strategic situation. Mmmkay? |

I run sleeper anomalies in Wormholes. Looting is how I get my bounties. I have to get out of the WH with those loots, to get paid a damn thing. I get paid 100s of millions for the loot.
The salvage is worth billions, after a month or two or running them. It's how tech 3s are built. Just STFU before you embarrass yourself any further. |

Nice to see you "mentioned" you run in a WH in your first post. There was no mention of a WH by the time i posted #5, your first WH post is #17. As i am usually telepathic i wonder why didn't i read your mind in the first place.
On WH loot / salvage related issues, i know how WHs work, and the ISK involved there. I am also informed on components needed for T3 production.
All in all, since you dont have the luxury of not L/S in a WH, STFU and deal with it. P.S. - and L / S operation was nicely screwed by CCP, on that we agree. |

I never said what I was salvaging the it original post. And you're missing the point.
I don't want your opinion on what or how I salvage. It's a part of the game that does not work as well since they "fixed" it and I want it to work again. Try to stay on point. |

Agreed, but its a minor annoyance at best. It should be on the list-to-do, but not top priority with all the other issues that been creeping up. |

It's hard to rank things objectively, because everything depends on how you play the game. I wonder is they have a "most popular activities" hierarchy chart. |

Im sure they have a white board and vote on the issues at hand in priority terms. Salvaging doesnt bother me in the least bit, but my friend that also plays, has had lag issues when salvaging and looting, which I do not.
Again, CCP makes the call, but I am sure its on the things to do list. |

I feel exactly the same way, but CCP isn't gonna change a thing.
Why?
They said there is too much isk coming into the system and not enough going out, so they have to find ways to reduce isk, and making things as hard as possible is one of those methods. |

I agree, its slower than it was, and UI does wonders to **** you off. Old mechanic was faster and better. New one makes you do work 1 by 1, and screws up the window timing on a first chance it gets. |

Some mice also have "advanced macro" function(razer), you can bind multiple keys to 1 button. Example, Shift+click or double click.
I don't personally use it as i don't mind closing the window myself everytime, but hey, it's an option. |
