Damnit, i upgraded wine to wine-1.1.26-231-gfe9d360 - after that eve started crashing.
I downgraded to the wine I used before (from debpackages, stable). But to no vein. So now, i can't do ****.
Turned off sound, upgraded, downgraded, reinstalled wine/eve. Nothing. Anyone?

There was recently a kernel update. Did you apply that and reinstall your video drivers?

Sorry but did you even bother reading this forum? Opening a thread is easier than reading and researching......................not?
There are about 10+ posts here and on winehq that center on the topic that eve crashes with a page fault because in wine version .25 have been some commits which cause that crash.
Use the wine repository and degrade to .24 or .23.

Thanks for the posts. As I stated in my original post, i downgraded to wine 1.0.1 to test if the problem would solve. But didnt. Anyone? All hail the mighty fluffy. The destroyer of worlds! |

1.0.1 will not run apocrypha.
You need to get one of the devel-versions from winehq.org
I'd recommend reading the wiki:

Edited by: Private Langvann on 04/08/2009 22:32:03 This is what i found so weird. Because i've always used 1.0.1 :P I upgraded, and now it wont work on either installations.. :\ Also upgraded the whole system. That guide merely tells me what i've already done.
I also wrote this guide, when it DID work; Linkage And now.. Maybe i'll just install 1.1.24 or something just for the heck. All hail the mighty fluffy. The destroyer of worlds! |

Okay for me first version to actually run apoc is 1.1.21. Versions below that will just crash with the same error as you have displayed in your screenshot or completely die at splash.
Maybe its something in the kernel or the graphics drivers. The kernel has changed a lot since 1.0.1 and its not unlikely that there may be one change that breaks compatibility with older versions of wine in eve.
I did those Test with a self-built 2.6.30.4 kernel and the 190.18 beta drivers from nvidia.

Just to make sure you've tried everything so far:
- If you are using ATI: http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1571
- If you are using nvidia: http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html (instead of built-in ubuntu packaged binary drivers)
- Install WINE from source with patch fix, delete the entire .wine prefix, and reinstall the app
- Make sure you have the two D3D9X native DLLs, and that native overrides are set for both.
- Set wine to use ALSA (or even OSS) if you are using pulse audio (PA works fine for me but not for others)
- Make sure you have set up the Direct3D registry entries correctly
Also, is this x86 or x86_64 platform?
