I have a freighter pilot on a seperate account (yep a buddy account). He was made to fill a need for a Jump Freighter pilot and nothing else. As soon as he started training, he switched to a Hulk to he could sit and mine all day for me on my second screen while I am working or gaming. He mas managed to pull in a ton of Veldspar day after day and more then pay for his skill books and feed my capital construction never ending demand for Tritanium.*
*Not that a capital ship builder could ever have too many minerals on hand
So now he is a hulk pilot, can fly the Charon adn Rhea, and has Jump V/IV/IV. And like all my toons, he has 4 R&D agents. I ran a lot of missions, and had him in the group, sharing the spilt at turn in. A few L3 and L4's later and he makes passive R&D datacore income everyday. Not a ton, but it like everything else in EVE Online adds up over time.
What next?
Carrier to add to the hauling versitility and be an asset during mining ops by throwing out fighter support instead of mining?
Or take one of the two other char slots and start training up another pilot, be it Hulk, ice miner, or Freighter or Jump Freighter pilot to sell on the market?
I have ruled out some things like JF to 5, or Jump skills to V/V/V unless I get a really compelling reason to do so. Its not out of the picture, just not something Im leaping to do.

Edited by: Irish Blend on 04/08/2009 23:50:23 Yeah thats a great list of every possible option. This is a JF alt account. Started to be a JF pilot, and now is. I'm trying to figure out something that compliments a JF or pushes the skill path a bit more.
Dread pilot doesn't really make a lot of sense for a char with 0 in combat skills on an alt.
Except for AFK e-peen and AFK looking awesome in a POS bubble
AND OMG, I just noticed that you said Itty 5 - its JF pilot. Look at the skills required before you post next time, puhlease

You said charon - which is the caldari freighter no? If you're going to be a ****, don't ask for help on the forums.
How the hell are we supposed to know what to do with your alt? You can do whatever you want with it, sorry if listing options doesn't help you. I'm not a bloody mindreader. You wanted a JF alt and now you have a JF alt. What else you want to do with it is up to you.

Do YOU have a JF pilot? If so, YOUR opinion would be helpful, on what YOU did

Carrier or Rorqual pilot would re-use the jump skills, and both work very well on a screen you pay minimal attention to.
I'd choose between those based on whether my corp does more fighting or mining, and if either role is saturated atm.

My JF pilot is also a combat pilot, so he flies a carrier and dread. In your case, I'd probably train for Rorqual.

I took mine originally this route (Also caldari): Hulk > Blockade Runner > Freighter > JF > Rorqual > Carrier > Orca
next is looking like: Research > maxing ore skills > T3 production skills > stuff
Should keep me busy for awhile then ill figure out what to do from there.

I trained 'Douchebag' to V on my spare slot, but looks like you already have that covered.

My Alt does missions/industrial/JF and after getting JDC 5 I moved my scanning/falcon alt over to that account. She gets to train now on that account as my main alt has nearly everything I want.
It really depends what your main does, but scanning alts are bloody good and great to have as a separate character than your hauling alt so you can leave them where you need them. It generally works pretty well as you will most likely not want to haul while scouting and using your main. You could then train them for logistics or other niche skill sets your main lacks or that are good to have as an alt later on too.

Thanks some really helpful responses.
Rorqual: I have a pilot that can fly a Rorqual with a Mining Foreman Mind Link, and all mining skills at 3 or 4, working on bringing those up
Carrier: That was my most likely, since the drone skills would be useful all the time
Scanning alt: Good point to maximize the account use. I had not considered consolidating the chars to save the monthly fee. I can easily pay the account fee just mining in the Hulk for a few hours every day so thats not an issue, even in this economy.
I'll put some effort a 2nd toon on that account and see if some deficit in the JF skills causes me to kick back into training it.
And that trade skills to be able to sell would be an excellent idea if I was using it as a trader and hauler. I just use it to haul stuff I or corp or alliance mates need. Freight service, nothing more.

Carrier/JF would prolly be reasonable altho with the way the carriers are currently in SiSi they might end up good only for jumping around assembled ships.
There is additional possibilities also. Like bump your R&D skills up a bit more (like 5 agents at least) and/or slot skills so even if you do not have acsess to POS you could use it to que up say 10 prints in some public station.
Also one does not have ever enough cyno/pos gunner alts. So for example 2 alts in spare slots who can do cov ops cynos might be reasonable.
