Rather different sides of the spectrum i feel, but a valid question.
Which would produce me the ISK to buy the other i a more, how to say, hasty fashion?
Hauling pays the bills ofcourse and with the Providence, there's no capacity problems, but would a nightmare be any more viable? Wormholes, missions, rattypoos.
Risk vs reward ideas also welcome.
Highsec hauling vs 0.0 ratting is a given ofcourse.
Ideas and suggestions, muchaprhechiated

Edited by: Sheriff Jones on 05/08/2009 08:46:21 Yeah, running missions in highsec with a Nightmare wouldn't cause much trouble, but with a nicely fitted abaddon, i basically get the same effect. Hell, Nightmare could run solo in most wormholes
I'm guessing that a providence could make more ISK on hauling(i've been doing hauling quite a lot) if i have a starter capita that can fill the hold?

Providence can make you way way more isk than the nightmare. However, that isk is relying on you actively finding deals and hauls that need to be hauled, while the nightmare is so easy to make isk out of it's silly. Parrots, commence!

if you are doing this afk or with little attention then teh freighter hauling can be nicely profitable.
mission running in the nightmare needs you to be there more often

Or even with a marauder. Is there a valid reason for the pricetag? Just looking for options on the behemoth.

Interesting points all around.
Just as a follow up, would it be completely silly to make a shield tanked nightmare?
Or is it what it's kind of meant to do?
Just looking at the ahem...several medium slots.
Could pop a good shield tank and leave lows for damage mods.
I dunno...have to think about it.
As said though, i've been hauling all my life, so the deals part ain't that hard. Ofcourse you're moving a lot more volume so the starting capita needs to be a hefty half a bil too.

Nightmare has been a shield tanker for a while now, what you're describing is essentially the default fit for it.
