The problem with Spain is that they do not have many black people living there. So if a crime is being committed by a black person then the chance is rather high that it is the same black person when another crime is being committed by a black person, because there are not many. The skin colour becomes the main feature of the suspect. A bit like saying the suspect is a male and has red hair.
The US is only trying to get there, by imprisoning as many black people as possible and to keep the black skin colour a feature easy to identify criminals with.
Some white people then believe all black people are criminals, and some black people believe they need to drive a white Bronco. --

Aside from the obvious **** up on the article the title gets to receive a big ass DUUUUHHH. But in reality to just point to one country and say it has a racial barrier is kind of silly and tunnel visioned. Likewise to run in and say that my country (worded for whoever says it) doesn't have a racial barrier is just blind ignorance. I guess what I'm getting at is that Racial intolerance has been around for so long its practically evolved in our genes (nobody take that literally or I'll mock you). Doesn't help that we stereotype like crazy as well but I'm sure groups and clicks have been going on for just as long. I think mostly deep down its mans competitive nature. Man always has to compete in any and every way possible. So when man compares man he wants to find differences that make him stand out more, or stand above the rest.
I sure I can think of more to this subject but it ain't gonna happen at the moment so I'll just give you a map of some of the well known and watched hate groups.

You make it sound like there is a big conspiracy theory in the United States to throw all black people in jail. If that is the case, then the government is actually meeting its goals for once!
You will be disappointed to hear that there is no government conspiracy. Certain crimes are disproportionately committed by blacks. That is if you choose to look at it by race. Look it up on the Department of Justice's website. That is why there are a lot of blacks in prisons. The reason criminals are often black has very little to do with their skin tone. People are just using the wrong metrics. I hate to disappoint everyone.
The way public education is funded through property taxes is a big culprit. The areas where poor people live will have crappy schools because the schools will not get much money through property taxes. As you can imagine kids coming out of these crappy schools are going to get crappy jobs and as a result they will be... get this... poor. Their kids then go to the same crappy schools their parents went to and the cycle starts over.
Poor people will sometimes resort to crime since they think they don't have any other options available to them. Maybe it is more correct to say mostly poor people are being thrown in jail. The fact a lot of poor people are black is mostly irrelevant but stems from an unbroken cycle of impoverishment that started when slavery ended.
This astronomical social problem isn't as tantalizing as the news about racist police and so everyone has ignored it for decades.

You do realise that the police get paid to arrest people, right? Not to enforce law (unmeasurable), not to ensure justice (the job of the courts) but to simply detain people for judicial processing (the only metric they are measured with)?

Whoa there, rage boy. I didn't "talk excrement" regarding anyone, I pointed out a simple fact about the role of the police. Just because it happens to be true, don't get mad at me. As for looking for the police to "save my ass" I've been in that situation and they didn't give a toss, since they couldn't get an arrest out of it.
On the other hand, I have been harrassed by the police on a number of occasions and arrested once for absolutely nothing. When the only witness to the alleged offence came forward, the officer responsible for the case threatened to arrest them for interfering with the case.
So ignoring any theoretical aspects, every experience of the police I've had has demostrated they're largely a bunch of giant douches. There are of course decent, hard working and conscientious people in the police force, much like there are bouncers who are decent and look after the interests of club patrons. Sadly, due to the very nature of the role, it mostly attracts fascist nob heads who enjoy throwing their weight around and hitting people.
I understand why someone would have such a rose tinted view of law enforcers, particularly if you're a white, middle class Westerner. I grew up with a fairly privileged background, so I was in my twenties before I got to see the reality of the situation. However once you step outside the WASP demographic, you'll find that the police don't really give a xxxx for anyone else, particularly if they don't come from a "respectable" enough background (read: your father is on the bench) to make a complaint stick.

Whoa there suddenly defensive guy. You pointed out your personal views of officers, not a fact. It happens to be true for you. For the latter part of that paragraph I'm sure theres a big bull**** story involved that the readers would like to read.

Judging the attitude that I'm seeing portrayed in these lines, it really doesn't seem hard to put 2 and 2 together to see how you end up with lots of douchebag cops. I've had a lot of douchebags too but usually they were ****ed because I wouldn't stop running. I don't think they enjoyed being winded.

And I grew up in a poor underprivileged neighborhood of a certain majority color and can point out several officers that would make your statement about cops not caring make you look like an idiot. Well actually you've already contradicted yourself in this post anything so I really don't need them.

That isn't a personal view, it's a bald statement of fact.
Do advise me as to quite how the metric for justice is calculated. I am excited to find out how such an abstract quality is weighed. I'm aware of metrics for arrest rates, conviction rates and reduction in reported crime, but not ones that measure justice. Naturally, since you've contradicted me, you'll be able to post an iota of evidence for your point?
As for stereotyping police as people who would be attracted to the major aspects of the role, yeah, I guess that's a pretty unreasonable thing to say about a vocational occupation.

I do realize that officers are paid a salary for being public servants and that you watch way too many cops episodes. Not every call they answer results in an arrest because that would really suck for the 87 year old lady with a cat stuck in the tree.
Originally by: Jitabug That isn't a personal view, it's a bald statement of fact.
One that you can't seem to back up with evidence like a link or something. those are usually referred to as opinions or theories until proof can be shown.
But I will assist you with a quote from Rick Horowitz (He's one of them lawyer people):
Quote: Police officers are paid to help obtain convictions. ItĘs part of their jobs to testify.
In his blog he kind of underlined that same area, and I like to emphasize on the Part part of part of their job.
When you're ready to show me undeniable proof that the only thing an officer gets paid for is hauling some one to jail then I'll argue the case with ya.

So, Jitabug, what are your sources for this information? HUH?
Officers do have quotas for traffic violations. Most traffic violations just require a ticket. The state makes money off of you running through a stop sign and getting pulled over by a cop.
I'd rather run through a stop sign and get pulled over for it then run through a stop sign and cause a wreck. The ticket is only a small amount of money. A car wreck? Not so much, especially if your the cause. I'm trying to derail the thread.
