So i thought I'd take my pilgrim character out for a spin as it has 20days left on its subscription before it expires and boy ti wont be reniewed.
Logged it on, laughed at the numbers of people online, then thought to myself, do i want to give CCP the numbers on their server, or even the impression that this guy is happy. The answer was no.
I then thought about what i would be doing, a few wormhole ganks, i realised i was in my +5 clone with other +6% dmg implants all maxed out for speedy skill training. Now i certainly didnt want to loose this clone as its a few bils worth, and i certainly didnt want to jump clone into a unimplanted clone and vanish into the wormholes for a while, thus reducing the characters skill training on that all valuable 20days left. So i reached the conclusing taking all this into account, to come onto the forums and make another moan/whine/imbored thread, as even with the fullest intention to actualy have FUN on this GAME it was quickly squashed by game mechanics |

OP just fit the jump clones with +3 implants, learning ones. Not expensive at all. Also use your jump clones for different areas of space you wanna play. Have your best guy in hi-sec for running missions, 1 jump clone in a certain null sec area, etc...
Implants from +5 to +3 on all your attributes adds 16 hours to a 7 day training. not a bad trade off concerning the amount of isk involved. Assuming you have cybernetics lvl 5. |

Thank you for trying to be helpful. But surely with CCP pushing for more and more people to PVP which in turn will move the ecconomy along, you would of thought they would make mechanics like this helpful instead of hindering.
My point was this is a game, ok a neiche game but still a game, and if you want to actualy have fun, the game mechanics penalise you for it |

You do realize that the argument for implant-derived adversity to PvP is nothing to the OTEC agreement. OTEC has resulted in the stabilization of nulsec, which should result in a lot more ships available to pew pew in high sec. The other thought, is that all the nulsec PvPers will become miners .

Admittedly, if you're that worried about your training times or don't wish to risk expensive implants then yes, they can be a motivation to avoid pvp. If on the other hand you aren't obsessed with having the maximum training times then it won't. In the end it's your own choice that holds you back. If the Sims all became zombies it would be easy to escape them, just shove them in a room and make them answer the telephone. |

I don't want to come across as malice but you are making excuses, OP. We play this min/max game in our head, we skill our characters to max, max, max and then we figure out that the barrier was never skill shortage to begin with. It was?
motivation.
We never had a reason to do it. We still don't. If you want to jump through a wormhole and shoot someone, do it. You might blow up? So? That's not what you are doing it for though. You really don't have a reason to do it. Grief some guy? The chances of you finding a lone wormhole operator in slim to none anyway. That's not your motive.
I'm not trying to be negative. I'm just trying to flesh out the real culprit. You have no reason to do it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg-_HeVNYOk

The training difference between +4 and +5 implants is a handful of days over an entire year. Just buy one each for the two attributes you're training / mapped to and you've got a 40mil clone that is 80% as effective as the one you were in.

Right right, risk-free PVP.
So your are complaining about losing 3.6 hours of valuable training time without risking 3 bil in implants.
In case you do not believe these numbers, consider each primary attribute saves your 2% and each secondary 1% of your total training time. That's at BEST 15% total if you use a blank clone, which roughly equates to 3.6 hours in the 24 hours delay to jump back into your +5's.
Using +3's (only the 2 attributes your need) costs around 20 mil and you will lose 6%... which is 1.4 hours of training time.
Life is hard already as it is, here is my advice: Don't fly T3 and set 2-3 alarms so you never forget to update your training queue. Your carebear training should now be complete.

Risk free PVP...... Isnt that the reason 1v1 is now dead in eveonline. People lie backstab and cheat thier way for a guarentee'd no loss no risk "rush" of pvp.
Face it that guy ganking mission runners = risk free gate camps = risk free (run away when something comes) joining a large fleet = risk free can flipping and baiting = risk free
The whole game is about the people who apparently want GF's getting thier pvp "risk free"
I say risk free, maybe i should say "reduced risk" as there is always the actual risk of the node crashing and client becoming unresponcive.
I myself am guilty as well, I was planning on going into a wormhole and ganking relativly risk free PVE "carebears" so yeah |

If the other guys weren't terrible and drooling onto their keyboards this would be a bad idea everytime.
These things are only relatively low risk, in certain situations, because the opponents are terrible. Hardly their fault.

When you you're an NPC corp alt you can remove logic from your argument and just throw in random unrelated issues ... or seemingly unconnected trivia.
I'm half surprised this didn't turn into : "Can't afford to PVP because I need to do it in a Pilgrim (also implants, rarrrwgh!) and OTEC make the T2 hull/fitting expensive, QQ!"
or "Let us have a PVP flag when we are using implants!"
or ... IDK. They're endlessly creative yet forever in a rut.
tl;dr - I need to whine about something that I don't like, so instead of simply stating such, I must try to attach it to a bunch of other issues and claim my issue BREAKS EVE PEOPLE and fix it nao. - "Do not touch anything unnecessarily. Ah yes, more attention seeking behavior. I don't know quite how to put this, but I believe you may have a psychiatric problem. You are showing all of the classic symptoms of somone suffering from Borderline Peronality Disorder. I've been finding more and more of them as of late on the EVE-O forums. As I've said to the other people suffering from this affliction, if the symptoms continue or you become a danger to yourself and/or others, please seek out the nearest psychiatric facility and ask for help. Inappropriate attention seeking, wild mood swings, and an overall inability to carry on normal relationships with people are definitely warning signs.
It might be a good idea to find the others on this forum who are suffering from this terrible psychological affliction, and form a support group for each other. It should be easy to find them.
In the meantime, please see your doctor and get on a strict regiment of mood stabilizers, anti-depressants, anti-psychotics, and possibly some anti-anxiety medication. This should help treat the symptoms, though unfortunately there is no cure for Borderline Personality Disorder. |

The problem being stated is not about pvp game mechanics. The problem here is that an item that is meant to be a buff is being viewed as "the precious". There are a lot of people that let small **** like this get in the way of doing anything fun in game, which is killing ****.
You have to ask yourself, is getting a few more SP per day really worth not trying to have fun in eve? You plan on leaving the game because you have got it in your head that these extra SP is what the game is about, but at the same time they are what making you leave the game. Since they are making you leave the game then clearly those SP are not that important as you are willing to let yourself unsub, thus negating all the extra Sp you pulled in by having the +5 imps in your noggin. Since the SP are failing to keep you around they clearly are not that important. Something else must be more important in a game for you to stick around, and you must ask yourself why protecting something that is not worth sticking with the game is going to take priority over the good parts of the game.
The problem is not the pvp mechanics, if anything the problem is with the implants and the false importance that you have placed within their constant use and safety. Solution? One of the most liberating things you can do in eve is to lose a set of imps that you felt so worried about not getting the use and maintaining the safety of. The only need to truly maintain the imps is if you are training an alt while in hisec, or just starting the game and plan on staying in hisec. of course after a point there is no need for imps or even skill training if you are just going to stay in hisec. I know because I had hit that point on a main and realized that SP does not really mean much anymore beyond that. Maybe a few percentage points on an obscure skill that is rarely used, but if I cannot use the skills then what does it matter if I am getting more SP dumped into them? |

You are paying from EVE, but why you pay for it?
To get skills or to play game?
On some point you will have enough skills to fly what you want with decent skills and you do not really know what to train next, only skills to train is weapon specs to lvl5 or something as marginal skills, so your current phase is just phase which is soon over and problem solved. |

Because "I'm having fun" is an objective concept and everybody does it the same way. You are not having fun, but not because of the game mechanics, but because you don't have enough balls to go and PvP with what? A billion or less in implants? The game is not to blame. You are not willing to take risks and complain that you can get no action, when it's not the case. +1 Ok what action is this? 1v1? or going out solo ganking and the only likely fight you would find is against a fleet, whos members are all only in said fleet because they as you said "don't have enough balls to go and pvp" alone
OK. I'll bite.
First of all, you were talking about a Pilgrim. Not only a worthy all-in-one exploration vessel (if you enjoy scanning and running sites and killing NPCs, to reap the rewards). It's only a very good cloaky ganker.
With it, you can risk it into 0.0 or Low Sec, prowl the space there looking for locals and choose your victims. People DO go alone for many things: Planetary interaction, mining, hauling without a proper setup, ratting... You can look for Hulks near your High sec of choice and declare a few wars to industry corporations, looking for careless miners who don't check or don't care about local.
Hell, use a Locator and find me. I'm a terrible player and easy to gank. Then come here and boast about it to no end, man!
If nothing can convince you that fun can be (and in fact, is) achieved in the game, I kindly suggest you contract said Pilgrim to me. I promise you I'll put it to good use.
