With the amount of hacked accounts lately you'll probably be waiting for another few days.. Lesson is to not install flash updates from random websites...

Plain and simple. That's what you get for being a dumbass. What irks me the most about people getting there accounts hacked is not the "hackers". Because they're using very crude methods. But the fact that CCP has to waste a lot of resources pulling these dimwits out of the mud. All that time, money and effort. Could be better spent on improving the game. So I say, without any reservations.
"If you account gets hacked. You deserve it."

Wow, are there people this stupid in EvE? I thought it was just a myth or a bad joke that players fell for this. I never knew there really would be someone dumb enough.
Wasn't it obvious that the link was a keylogger? Did you somehow believe your PC to be immune?
CCP shouldn't help you. Consider it a moron tax.

I'll bet if people didn't click the links in those threads entitled "Hot Asian big tit massage sexy cum", the amount of hacking incidents would be down like 90%.

I think thats a bit harsh.. Yes they did something wrong which caused their account to get 'hacked', but I wouldnt say anyone deserves it..

I disagree, I would say that they deserve it. I've been roaming around the interwebs for quite a while and have never been hacked. I have a lot of friends on the net and they've never been hacked. Am I/we supposed to feel sorry for the ones did? Because they were stupid. I think not.

Not everyone checks the forums daily or even weekly. A link on the official forums of the game you're playing is more or less as trustworthy as it gets. Especially with people posts resoponses like "oh what a wonderful web site" or "That's awesome" on those threads, no wonder why there are lots of people getting hacked (or hijacked).
Its not their fault. Its CCP's fault for not developing a permanent solution for the spam/trojan/keylogger threads.

Its actually rather easy to solve as the forum accounts are tied to game accounts and characters, and there also this thing called, forum filters and other **** loads of things that can prevent spam. Bots use the same sentence every time for ****s sake.
Is it really too much to ask for a forum that doesn't have keyloggers in its every section from a company that makes millions of dollars profit every year (or even every month)?

You have to remember that not everyones computer is used exclusively by one person.
Someone gave me their laptop the other day to solve a problem on it, a family of 5, there were 132 processes running in the background!
I quickly solved the problem and gave it them back, recommending a full reformat, I hate to think what kind of bogie's were lurking on that machine.

Getting hacked can happen to everyone, sure less intelligent and less computer minded people will get hacked sooner rather than later.
And I would think that the average EVE player is smart enough to avoid 99% of the hacks.
Still, even I, fixing infections and securing computers for over 15 years now, almost got caught once by a trojan ( luckely, windows defender saved me, it was a good proggy back then :p ).
So even tho alot of it is obvious, sometimes even the best get cought, if you think you are immune, I will laugh hard the day you fall down from your almighty high pedestal, you will probably cry harder than all the newbies together.

So a sticky thread warning of the presence of hacking attempts on this site, the removal of keylogging phishing threads fairly quickly and CCP no doubt working there butts off following the trail of devastation through the database is not enough for you ?
Oh heres a solution you might like, take some responsibility for yourself !!!
Now theres a radical idea!!!
Report keylog posts when you see them, dont click into them. Simple stuff.

Edited by: Tiny Tove on 14/08/2009 10:02:34 I bet they don't enjoy hacking for money. I used to do it for fun back when I was a kid. I once sent 8 repair crews to the street light outside my house, nearly the whole street thought it was a UXB or something what with 40 guys tooling round looking for the mysterious broken street lamp.
I can't imagine doing it for something as worthless as money though, must be hell to have to resort to that. I can only really imagine doing it these days for the pure humour involved in having one of these "duh, don't press da links den u stupid idiot and ur safe" crying his completely misguided heart out.
Just because you live with your parents, doesn't mean they can protect you from everything. It's not a case of them putting a little antiseptic on your grazed knee after your credit card gets jacked for twenty thousand dollars, I assure you.

No, it's a great reflection on you. It shows you have taste, class and an appreciation of historical context instead of just typing your three favourite rude words into google and signing up for whatever major multinational **** conglomerate has paid google the most money recently.

How hard is it for CCP to have one person always looking over the forums and deleting keylogger posts. Or even delete the posts when they are reported not 2,3,4 hours later. OP I would hate to be in your position and I hope it all gets sorted for you!
Keyloggers should be shot at dawn or hung, or both would be nice.
And you idiots who say "oh its your own fault" grow up, you should be embarrassed. Is it your own falt if someone breaks into your house when your not home and steals all your stuff. You pay a fee to play this game and CCP has a responsability to look after it's customers accounts. Not all keylogger posts are obvious.
And no I havent be caught by keyloggers before and I hope I never do.
