Oh please. Go look at the numbers for console software sales and compare it to PC sales sometime, and you'll see why the entire industry's focused more on consoles than the PC. The money's over there, and if CCP can get a chunk of that while providing a clever way to tie it into the MMO-side then more power to them.
which in return means moar contentz and expansionz for eve

Why is it epic fail? Lets see, more money for eve. More players who play dust will most likely try eve online. More players for the main game. CCP will have something HUGE over WoW. Will be the only games company in the world to do this. Also you dont have to play it. Stick to your spacehships
I agree, the concept is really good if it works and is something completely new! thus it will propably attract many newcomers!

I don't think sony is making any more game consoles and the 360 is good for years to come plus the next version of the 360 will be a hardware upgrade so by all accounts it should be easily ported. So it would make sense to also have a pc client to guarentee you can keep your console character data and still use it if you lose your console.

Bit unfair really for the poor ground team. but hilarious as hell if you are a crap shot. I hope that 1. you can join EVE online corporations as normal or perhaps change corporation feature to have a sub division for this. 2. We can chat to the players in dust in our corp
What makes you think a ship can sit and bombard a planet from orbit for hours on end? of course the other force would do anything to keep it from shooting their soldiers. At the same time as the battle for the planet raged on the surface, a similar battle would go on in orbit as no one wants the other side to get space superiority. The first side with space superiority would essentially win, but without troops on the ground they wouldn't "own" the planet anyway.
Anyway that probably won't happen because I very much doubt there will be a real time sync between the games.
Another thing I came to think of; what happens in a few years when Dust is old and new consoles come out? How will that affect EVE?
POS's have some major shielding, why wouldn't there be planetary shields, or at least shields that protect important planetary infrasturcture.
Would be an obvious mission goal. Infiltrate location x, disable planetary shield generator and leg it so orbital bombardment can take out vital target.
But yeah, doubtful ther will be real time sync, but we can hope.
Oh, and jusdging by this screen grab there will be integration between eve corps and alliances and Dust corps and alliances

(Yes, I ran the numbersą )
You also assumed an Apoc could survive Low-Earth Orbit - Spaceships designed and constructed in space are unlikely to achieve a low orbit, re run the numbers allowing for a high orbit pls

only that a sniper apoc cant even enter low-earth orbit, because of tritanium

250km is well above the atmosphere. I'd love to see some sort of mechanic that lets you do orbital strikes with eve ships in the console game even it it is only npc ships that do the bombarding.

I think they are much closer to release than they expected last year. That is why WiS had to be postponed and the sovereignty changes taken care of in the winter patch.
EDIT: Seeing that that this a product who has been developed primarily by the Shanghai department of CCP it makes me wonder what the Atlanta group is doing (besides writing mission descriptions). Maybe WoD is also much closer to release than anybody expects, though I seriously don't hope CCP will try to integrate that MMO with the EVE universe too. ---------------- Mr. Science & Trade Institute

I'll go with my corpmate's excuse for that one: the (disintegrating) tritanium is only used in the construction process — once alloyified or otherwise combined to make a working ship, it's lagely 'splotion-free… unless subjected to plasma or lasers or equally nasty stuff. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Oh please, we go through this time and time again. CCP have different offices with plenty of people dedicated to loads of different areas of EVE Online and their other projects. It does not make good business sense to focus on just EVE. They have several offices around the world and One office was working on this. Get over yourself. Join the brown Coats today!!! |

The issue that perplexes me, is one that arises from the USP of EVE, the single server. A console FPS is going to be so far away from this, that I can't see how they will integrate satisfactorily. I would imagine that at most, each map for the online console players would have a maximum of 64 players, so would that be say, one base on a planet, or one planet, or what. So Dust would be a large number of servers, with a small number of players on each.
Then, if a group of players 'conquer' a planet, how do they move to another, if they are transported by EVE players, then they are going to get ganked mid-space without any interaction on their part. They would just respawn and think WTF. Maybe there is some independant transport system, which will not appear in the EVE universe, in which case, the integration fails.
I am open to any new ideas in the game, although I've always been a bit 'meh' about WIS, but I cant get my head around this announcement. Want more info please !
