What do you mean with not very hopeful? It's very cool imo. Especially that ship battle at the end of the video!

So Dust514 will impact sovereignty, and seems not in some small way either, said by Hilmar at the Trailer in the OP.
We won't be able to play it on PC.
I think CCP pulled an NGE.

A console game having an impact on a totally different PC game doesn't sound very good to me. That's what I meant by 'not hopeful'.

How exactly is Dust 514 going to influence my tech 3 production and level 4 mission running given the current information? ---------------- Mr. Science & Trade Institute

upon being asked by a german mag as to why there would be no PC version Hilmar only smiled and said that he could only reveal that there currently is a console version.
i.e. it may well come to PC in some form, it's just that this way it would make more of a splash. (I can see WiS tying into this quite easily actually)

Well if mobs of irritated eve players are the kind of splash he wanted then it was a real soaker.

i am citing the golem article that clearly sais there will not be a pc version. what they mean by soldiers does dying, fleet does flying is that the dust console soldiers will impact sovereignity of eve pc players.

Would be nice to know which consoles and what the impact on eve will exactly be.
I hope it will not be possible for people in Dust to take over control of a system just by fighting on the planets, while the ones doing the flying and building the posses, spending multi-billion ISK's have no chance of holding the system.
You can hire people to do ground fights for you and give them weapons... I hope this will be buying weapons, otherwise it is just a major ISK sink.
What will CCP do when the 0.0 alliances decide not to make use of the merc's? What will the Dust players do then?
I think they should restrict this to faction warfare and leave 0.0 sov as it is now (change the sov system but without interaction with dust) since it is a completely different system. Faction warfare with ground war would be cool I think.
Let's wait and see what CCP is going to bring...

HOLY CRAP!!!
I expected a new MMO but one seperate from EVE. If anyone doubts the dedication of CCP to the EVE universe now they are nuts.
This is actually an amazing idea and a serious FIRST in the industry. Or is it? Back many moons ago there was a space sim called Rules of Engagement. This sim was tied into a ground combat game produced by the same company so you could fight for stations or as boarding parties. The idea was AMAZING...
CCP has taken this basic idea to a new level and bring a whole new demographic to the EVE universe. While I think we will see a lot of players go with both games I think the majority will go one side or another. You will see alliances formed that will not be just EVE Corporations, but Dust units as well that are under the hire of the EVE Corps.
I mean thinmk what this could do it added to faction wars. Imagine players of Dust that work for the 24th and Matar players on the other side battle for control of a planet while the ships above control for the space. Tying this two together will create a single game universe bigger and more in depth than ANYTHING ever seen.
Bravo CCP for once again bucking the trends and going where no one has gone before, Star Trek has NOTHING on you guys..
Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, God will be a light unto me. |

yes they have said so, that eve players can transport troops from planet to planet. although the player with the eve client flying the mothership cant play on the planet itself, since the dust 514 engine is a whole other department.

Can you then also dump em out of the airlock ? That would be amusing .
