Hearing a lot of moaning about the new console game. So I just wanted to say...
Dust 514 looks ****ing awesome! I can't wait to play it and will take a preverse pleasure in taking contracts against the alliances and pirates that have podded me :)
"Go play another game if you don't like EVE." I will... Dust 514!
Anyone else that loves the idea of Eve coming to console feel free to add your support.
I hate mankind, for I think myself one of the best of them, and I know how bad I am.

Maybe if there was a PC version, I'd be remotely interested in playing it.

I would like to voice my support for anything that will take people who have no clue what they're doing out of the EVE environment, provide them with small arms, and allow them to run around on the surface of a planet much the same way we put our children into daycare so that they can spend the afternoon annoying someone else.

I'm excited. Better be able to transport troops via player EVE ships. If not, it will be a slight dissapointment.

Depends on the level of interactivity. I want to be able to hotdrop players on planets and stations. Console players should be able to see, to some extent, real-time battles taking place in orbit or at stations.
A PC version would absolutely ruin EVE online. All you'd get are a bunch of hackers and counter-strike kiddies running around while EVE-O players migrate to it and create a huge dis-balance. I think a PC version would honestly suck the life out of EVE as people spend all their time playing that instead. Eventually it will just devolve into a hack-fest, unregulated piece of ****. They need to be two separate communities and consoles are the best natural anti-cheat in gaming.
There's also this problem: What would happen when eve players are dual boxing EVE and DUST514? All the sudden fleet commanders are getting ****ed because they can't keep their pilots from being too distracted blowing people up on planets. Fleet participation drops, etc. etc.

I hope the GroPos that you're transporting will be killified if your transport is, too. That'd at least provide some reasons for trying to interdict and blockade run around the target planets.

If people liked FPSs more than EVE, they'd be playing something else. I think EVE is unique enough that its community wouldn't be threatened by an FPS in the same universe.

If people can multi-task enough to play an MMFPS at the same time as making Internet spaceships go pew pew, all power to them. If they can't, they'll just have to prioritise.

I still think the cheating issue is the main reason why CCP won't release Dust on pc.

I'm quite excited also.
Anyone else notice one of the screen shots looks like WiS? Maybe this is coming to eve client also.
Please note the quote below:
4players.de has talked to Petursson after the show, asking why there will be no PC-Version. Petursson smiled and stated, that he cannot comment on it right now. The only thing he can say at the moment is that there will be ca console version.

I'll repeat what I said on RPS here.
Providing the interaction balance is done well, (i.e. the console game has some influence, but doesnĘt take away ultimate control from those playing EVE rather than DUST) this could work amazingly well. Imagine EVE Alliances having DUST wings for support on the ground during offences. This could be an awesome asset, and add more realism to the game.
Prior to a large offensive have Merc DUST corps attack assets of the alliance you intend to attack to weaken their hold on the territory somewhat, it all sounds very grand, and extremely cool if executed well and balanced properly.
Hooking WiS into this shouldnĘt be impossible either, enhancing the interaction even more.

Nevertheless, a console game is a no-go for many players. Including me. Tried to play a FPS on my PS3 and it was a clumsy experience. Not comparable to speed & accuracy and immersion effect when playing with mouse and keyboard.
Regarding hacking: I'm no game programer but I guess there is a difference in hacking a more or less fat client based game like CS or a thin client of a MMO (assuming the EVE client itself would be the DUST client).
Fat/thin client not in reference of it's megabytes - more in respect of the side where the game logic runs...MMOs are much more server based, aren't they?

Yes, which is why hacking is ultimately irrelevant on PC MMOs. I mean the worst type of hacking we see are macro bots for miners.

Sadly you are misinformed. Aimbots still exist on console. If you can store data on it you can hook it.

"But they use no cap!"
And then... CCP introduced implants.
