I think what most of us want instead of Walking In Stations - is an FPS integrated into EVE.
I personally would much, much rather have something like THIS than ... as funny as such things might be (and I do think this is one of the funnier fan videos I've seen) ... something like THIS ... and I tell you - the later is about all I can see any use for with Walking In Stations as it is.
An integrated FPS would be AWESOME. The ability to do emotes and make fan videos - is the only use I can see for just walking around. Sorry but WIS as is comes under the category of "What the hell were those people thinking ..."
Most of us are a bunch of aggressive little ****s who came here to shoot each other with space ships. We'd love to shoot each other with guns. Walking around and talking to each other? Showing each other how we decorated our little "rooms" on the space station? Setting up a little booth to sell our wares? No ... I don't think so. If we can't strip our cute chick characters down to their undies and make them dance around to something snappy I can see little to no purpose to WIS.
I'd just frakking love a frakking FPS.

15 pages is a lot to read so apologies if this has been mentioned already but:
You CANNOT put PC FPS players up against console FPS players for the simple reason that a keyboard and mouse is FAR more effective than a joypad at FPS. That's why if you buy TF2 or Call of Duty 4 on a console and play online you will only play against other console gamers and the same goes for the PC.
While you could perhaps create two 'shards' of DUST pvp, I can't see how you would do it without making the overall game suck and destroy the aspects of DUST that set it apart from the vast majority of other FPS/Online FPS games out there.

Bit scetchy about this. Seems to be a very game changing thing. EVE is about controlling your destiny and what not. Not having some nub-tard FPS jock controlling it. I have a 360, but if i didnt i would be ****ed if DUST was console only. I do like the idea of having something to do while things are quiet in space. I have stuck with EVE through a lot of Nerfs and Buffs I wasnt keen on, and have been happy with a lot of the results. I am excited and hesitent about this latest venture. I would very much want it to be incorperated into EVE.exe, not just console based, as well as a standalone pc game. /signed 'Gentlemen, You Can't Fight In Here! A lot of people I know do not buy console FPS games. If there was a PC, a XBOX and a PS3 client then the potential sales could be increased dramatically. _______________________________________________________________________ The limits of the possible can only be defined by going beyond them into the impossible. |

Edited by: karma militia on 09/10/2009 01:37:47 c'mon people, CCP know what they are doing.
console people are a different breed to eve players.
eve players are patient... sly and conniving, and console players are impatiant kids, and angry meatheads.
keeping the two entities seperate will add alot to the dynamics of the politics between the two games. it capitalises on the stereotypes to allow the players to build a better story in the eve online universe.
now please stop whining and wait patiently for the next morsel of awesome to be delivered to PC.

Paying customers have every right to complain. STFU with ur sucking up to CCP. Without feedback, there is no way to improve the game. Be it positive or negative feedback.
CCP definitly stands to make a lot of quick cash from a hit console game.
I hope they dont neglect their current customer base by failing to include DUST in EVE.exe
/signed. ps. i hope it is optional to rely on the FPS for sov.

you don't see anything hypocritical about that statement?
I'm not 'sucking up', i am providing positive feedback.
Lets say they do release DUST for PC, how do you think it will work without cancelling the console version? as i understand it, it would be rather problematic to have them both on the same server. even if that was possible, the PC players would have a huge advantage, which would destroy the userbase on the console - the platform the game was designed for.
this is a smart move by CCP, and the majority of people here are only complaining because they don't like missing out, and not for any objective logical reason.

I see why CCP is doing it console-only, but I a lot of people do not have/wish to own a console (for the most part having to pay for a fancy gaming pc is quite enough money to be shelling out for)
Many games have worked if released on all platforms, infact the pc games tend to have a longer shelf-life, I ran a game modding community for Call of Duty, UO, Call of Duty 2 etc. Think thats one area it might miss out on.
Putting on PC will increase the ammount of peeps that will buy the game. I will not but dust 512 unless its on the PC. This is not to say people that have consoles allready will not buy on the console versions.
Infact, as a console is cheaper than a computer they might choose the console version over the PC one so that they can play eve at same time as playing Dust 514. Sorry if this is writting badly, but I didn't have much time to post this.
So yea, would really like to see Dust 514 on the PC aswell as console. /signed Internet Guardians Leader

Give me the ability to play Eve on the 360, then you can whine about being too cheap to buy the required hardware to play a new game.
On another note, I don't know why PC people always hate on console users. I'm around computers 24/7. I love nothing more than getting to walk away from mine to sit on a couch and be more comfortable to play video games. I love being able to go into a store, pick out any game off the shelf and know it's going to run on my system, without guessing/hoping the company isn't inaccurate about their "system requirements", or having to drop another few hundred dollars every time a new damn strain of games come out.

What is with the anti PC-gaming movement the past few years. I can "sort of" understand it with none subscription games, the piracy problems. But, you know every person playing eve has paid for the game, and continues to pay for the game through subscriptions. Is Dust not going to be subscription based?

way to slap us in the face, CCP. PROTIP: some of your eve fanbase like other genres as well, and don't own consoles. I mean, why in the world would i buy a console as the best FPS's, RTS's and MMORPG's (which btw are my 3 fav genres) are all on the PC?
Not gonna get too butthurt, but I will not be playing dust until its out for the PC (and hopefully with an eve-like skill system)

Quite frankly, it's a slap in the face to the current EVE community (since we're all on PC's to begin with).
Please, sign this petition if you'd like this game to eventually be released for the PC too. Apparently, porting a 360 game to the PC is not too intensive and completely possible, so it shouldn't be too much trouble. Besides, what happens to this new game when the next gen of consoles comes around and the 360 is left in the dust (lol, pun)?
/signed
EDIT: Just to clarify, I am not against the game at all. I am thrilled with the idea of an EVE FPS, and really can't wait for more details about this awesome project. Also, I am not against releasing this for consoles, as I feel that will open EVE to a much greater audience. What I AM against is the idea of keeping this epically awesome game confined to a game console that will, sooner or later, phase out, and leave the PC community out of this new game. That is what I am petitioning.
I think this game can be really great if pulled off correctly, I just hope that CCP realizes that their existing PC customers would like to get in on the fun also. Please, spread the world around about this petition. CCP and the CSM need to hear us!
EDIT: CSM thread: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1153271
I whole heartedly disagree with you and your thinking short sightedly the 360 and ps3 are set to be the longest running consoles ever made, yes they will phase out eventually but CCP have said they will update the game when new software became available. If you ever watched the fanfest vids it clearly shows them stating that they will re-release the game on newer platforms when they are released. PC based shooters IMO are flawed as most ppl are twitch hores and have no skill, Console based shooters you need control to kill (fav shooter halo, 2nd battlefield). CCP also stated that they will run monitor and update dust as they do EVE so if dust is a success I can't see it dieing due to it being console only.
/ not singed leave it as it is.
P.s. buying a console for 1 game is stupid and I thought EVE players had more sence than that lol.

you speak some truth there. it takes 20m and alot of manpower to make a game that makes use of the current consoles technology, game developers couldn't handle higher graphical expectations without charging more for the games.
in fact, microsoft have invested a hell of alot of money into "project natal", and have said they will be basically 'relaunching' the console on its release. Sony is doing something similar.
anyway, future consoles will be backwards compatible.

but thats just silly. that arguement is not about skill, it's about control. PC offer's a greater degree of control.
