not true, there is a big difference between the ps3 and the xbox. ps3 is much harder to develop on because of the split ram and architecture that is based on the cell processor. the xbox takes most of its power of the graphic card that has a special ram memory (I think it is 10mb) inside that can also make specialized calculations resulting in fast processing time because you dont have to send data back and forth between memory and gpu.

We should really do some kind of a poll on the eve website to see if the majority of ppl want this on pc or not, and if ppl want more interaction between EVE Online and DUST (maybe via WiS).
I am for it, so: /signed (simply because it is a very innovative approach that deserves some attention)
I remember reading something of "CCP Korea has put several years of development into DUST 514"... is this true?
If so, I suspect it to be something like this: CCP is the company developing EVE Online. Eve is not a first person shooter. However, with WiS coming up (and its obvious connections to shooter games even though you wont be able to shoot in it), CCP had a lack of know-how. They probably decided to launch a project related to a FPS to gain this know-how. And guess what happened: The result was awesome (DUST 514). So, they had to decide what to do with it! Keeping it secret or letting it vanish is not a good idea, since this project did probably cost a lot of money. Including it into EVE online is not possible, because we need WiS first and WiS is no FPS. My guess is they did not want to interfere with the EVE gameplay too much, however, creating a completely independent game that also plays in the EVE Online universe is somewhat stupid, since the main philosophy of Eve is the "One World"-Approach.
What CCP did was some kind of a tradeoff. They invented a game for a different platform, linking it into Eve via a gameplay mechanic that is important but does not affect the gameplay too much (at least not for single players). Thereby they reach out for a completely new player-base (to earn more $$$), without making the EVE Online players decide between Eve and DUST (that would result in a competition between the two games).
My prediction: CCP does not yet know what will happen with DUST and WiS. They will probably check out the response from the players that play DUST and EVE. Depending on the response, they will decide wether there will be some more interaction between EVE and DUST or not. My guess: no further interaction in the next 5 years. Why? Because this is a large scale software project, that needs planning and research to be done. However, CCP needs more information from the player-base before they can do the next steps...
Does any1 of you have further information when/why/how DUST was developed? My post is of course just a rough guess... ---------------------------------------- Oliver G, Founder and CEO of G Enterprises. |

I was speaking more to the graphical compatibilities of the consoles themselves. As where PCs range from crappy to awesome, Xbox360 and PS3 just sit at Awesome. I didn't get my FacWar Medal so CCP Reset my Signature saying I didn't get it...way to go. |

in my mind i would link eve planetery fps and the walk in stations together etc
your playin eve you dock up and walk in station seeing the outside space watching ships go by looking at your own ship drinking gambeling etc etc
but you decide to go planet so you walk to a teleportation device in the station that transports you to the planet (opening the fps game up and closing eve when you have loaded) this way both games will constenly but interlinked very easily
to me that sounds easier than have a fps console game where there not linked very well ----------------------------------------------- i met Eliminator1..... i ate it and spat it out now hes my minion :)

I agree: they should release it for PCs, but only under OS X… the emorage would be truely epic! ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Originally by: Sable Blitzmann The idea of an EVE FPS has excited me for a while now, but it's absolutely infuriating that CCP has decided to release this game solely on consoles. Quite frankly, it's a slap in the face to the current EVE community (since we're all on PC's to begin with).
Please, sign this petition if you'd like this game to eventually be released for the PC too. Apparently, porting a 360 game to the PC is not too intensive and completely possible, so it shouldn't be too much trouble. Besides, what happens to this new game when the next gen of consoles comes around and the 360 is left in the dust (lol, pun)?

its too late dude, if they have designed the game for the console crap it will suck anyways, because ports of console games always suck.
btw. I imagine an eve online player hectically jumping between his PC and xbox like a rtard... oh dear
Fukk consoles and all their users should die

What about if they released the title to both platforms? PC and Console? Now that would be very nice indeed.
( and give us the oportunity to release orbital bombardments into from the EvE client into these planets too ) _____________________________________

Would love to have this as a PC game. Since I very much like Tactical/Strategic shooters (on my PC). But I see the point that it is unfair to mix a PC with a console shooter - mouse aiming is just more accurate.
So yeah. /signed for I >want< a PC game out of it.

I don't own an Xbox or a PS3 and most likely never will. I have no interest in their games and I'm not going to shell out a few hundred bucks for an inferior version of what I already have (a real PC) just so I can play ONE more game.
I could take this seriously if it were a Singleplayer RPG or some puzzle game but the whole concept of a console FPS is ludicrous on it's own. ---------------------------------------------- The glass is neither half full nor half empty. It's just twice as big as it need to be... |

It wont happend most likely.. due to the fact keyboard+mouse sits a controller like an elephant sitting on a mouse. We havent seen any cross platform shooter so far I think.
The idea of getting out of your space ship to go to a planet sounds really appealing tho. But I doubt anything like that will happen.
