I've gone to 0.0 once, and that was a brief foray into utter terror where I met no one but kept wondering when I'd run into someone who would destroy me. Didn't go in far, admittedly, but it being where it was, I was hoping for a bit more. I suspect it's a more active area now than it was then and I'm usually on in what seems to be the quiet times anyways.
So, yeah.

I live in hisec. Obviously, I guess.
Need to visit lowsec more often in something I can fight in, because I want to learn to solo effectively and that kind of thing is really only learned by doing. I keep getting distracted by the time I actually get to see my ship in the station and just end up either doing a mission, plotting some form of doom, or just station spinning while chatting and surfing the 'net.
Then I get bored and play some other game like (currently) M2TW and Mercs 2, then come back and flush, repeat.

I just got gallente drone spec to IV, 14hrs and Drone sharpshooting IV finishes. If I can't get the skillbook by then I'll just train Combat Drone operation to V to get ogre II's, train energy emission systems to get large neuts, and train the last reqs for Medium Hybrid Blasters spec. ________________________________________________

Odd, though I think I can guess at a couple possible reasons why. Familiarity is one big thing that usually determines how relaxed someone is in some area. Closest 0.0 to me, I believe, is the Great Wildlands, which hasn't been very friendly for awhile now.

Edit: Also I have neg sec status, not -5 but enough to limit me from living in highsec. I love it! (not)
I'm training Interceptors atm. Currently on a quest to 'unlock' the T2 frigates and cruisers. AFs, Cov Ops, Recons, Interceptors, EAS now, and then HACs and Logistics. I'm unsure if I want to train for Command Ships. Might go for Interdictors sometime.
Probably shouldn't be doing it all at once like I am, since there's plenty of support or combat skills I should get up, particularly drones and missiles, but then again, why not? It's not that long, really, to get them up to IV and pretty much every pre-req is a skill worth having anyways. Once I find a class I like best, I can put that to V and focus on it.

I would stock up a few extra future skills if you can then you can simply dip into your supply when the next needed skill to train comes up. Saved me alot of hassle when I was out in 0.0 last year running exploration sites. Now that I think about it I might have to do that again as the last run was pretty fun. Especially when I was in goon space and they rushed a bubble camp together at the smugglers gate. So I took the long way around and jumped in from behind laughed at them and jumped back. /me pets her trusty cheeta thats as fast as an inty. 14 au warp spped gets you around fast.

Yeah, but the monster is harmless if you know it's there. That's what's great about 0.0 that so many people miss. Once you get comfortable there (and you don't need an alliance to be comfortable) it's safer then any other part of space. ~ Santiago Fahahrri Galactic Geographic |

Indeed. You have long stretches sometimes stretching into days of noone at all or maybe just a couple of roamers hanging for a bit until they get bored of not finding you. Then *boom* local will spike with a 100 man blob roaring though with attendant lag though tbh in most cases you felt it as soon as they hit the node you were on. Lag powered early warning system ftw.

I'm based in the Cross section of Curse where everyone passes through, our old alliance used to base from, and goons used to attack every so often.
Get several roaming ops daily. Just a bad place and I'm really sucky at finding good systems. Other than that I'm preety sick of Eve. ________________________________________________

A WH led to to Feythabolis last night, I happily ratted for hours, and no one in local, at all. 0.0 is mostly empty. Expect where there are people trying to kill you.

Ever had a neut show up in system, and opened up his bio, and while checking it out, he shows up in your belt and starts accelerating towards you? I had that happen a time or two. Considering that I was between belts 4 and 7, I expected a bit more time to finish up my reading before they showed up. Guess he had a cloaked spotter or something, or blind luck. I started aligning when they showed up on local though, so of course I got out in time. Even though we are NRDS, I feel a little twitchy when a group of neutrals all in the same corp jumps in whatever system I'm in.
Yea. Comfort zone, and knowing who won't suddenly shoot me. In low sec, suddenly everyone is potentially hostile and I'm constantly hitting the directional scanner. click-1 2 3 4 5- click 1 2 3 4 5 click. --

How can BC's suddenly 'show up', lock you and kill you, while you're flying a small agile ship?

a destroyer isn't a small agile ship, it's essentially a cruiser. So the hurricanes would have him locked pretty fast. I guess he was hanging around at zero. I never hang at zero and rat, I always mwd to the rats usually 40k or so away, Although sometimes the rats are close to zero. --

Recently i was told that flying a -1mil character through 20+ jumps through 0.0 is suicide.
After making it in my rookie ship, i was told no more.
There's a reason why i'm still in my original pod most the time(one lost jump clone excluded) and it's not just 'cause i'm a scaredy cat
Keep cool, check and re-check, take pre-cautions and treat empty systems as the freedom to yell "Look at me ma! I'm flying naked!" in local.
