In an effort to centralize the trade of stock throughout the markets EvE-Trade has merged with EvE Central Reserve (ECR). Software development will continue as functionality from EvE-Trade is coded into the ECR stock exchange. The stock exchange will remain my primary concern while working with ECR. It is in the best interest of the exchange to be tied into a bank either directly or not. In this case players will be able to use funds deposited within the bank throughout the exchange increasing the flexibility of the entire corporation. Players will have one place to save ISK, play the active market, and much more. The possibilities are endless and we look forward to empowering the community to take an active role via trading stocks with potentially thousands of corporations around the universe with the click of a button.
EvE-Trade personnel will be coming into ECR as well. I will be sitting on the BOD and Roquizer will hopefully be giving ECR a much needed face-lift along with consulting for the stock exchange. We hope to continue to develop the best for the MD community.
Sincerely,
LadyOfWrath ECR - Director CEO One Stop Mining Shop CEO One Stop Research

Confirming that this is in fact happening, and is why neither service is launching this weekend. Expect an ECR launch by next weekend, and then an immediate focus on developing the virtual stock exchange like it's nobody's business. Super happy that we were able to work together on this.
If anyone has any questions about this move, don't hesitate. I mean, unless they're terrible, then you might want to keep it to yourself =D

I was wondering if the two stock exchanges were going to directly compete against each other, Merging is better for everyone involved.
Thanks!

Sounds like a great move, with your combined efforts you should be able to reach out to a wider audience and expand the options that are available to the community.
I hope you succeed with this, as it sounds like a solid foundation for building future EVE services on. =)

So is it just me that's wondering whether this will open up the way to all sorts of new and exciting ways to scam people out of their isk? Not the exchange itself, but people trying to sell fake stocks, or insider trading or something...

We will be auditing new IPOs/Bonds for a fee which will enable an IPO or Bond to become ECR certified. We cannot stop every scam from happening and I'm sure people will try and scam on the exchange. Our objective is to safeguard investors as much as possible by providing accurate information for them to make their own decisions.

It should also be noted the goal isn't to have ECR audit all or even the majority of shares listed on the exchange. It will simply be another option for the business community, provided by ECR.
And, of course, we have a lot of details to hash out internally before this actually gets offered.

Edited by: Vaerah Vahrokha on 23/08/2009 11:02:03 1) I approve (for what it matters to anyone, that is zero...) of the move, as I had a great and prompt time with Roquizer while I am still waiting for my EvECR beta key to be given, after a week spent in forum enablements and stuff.
2) You are adding another entry barrier to possible new auditors (be a certified / partered auditor or die, as the corporate auditors will be cheaper and trustier and with "the certificate" while freelancers can basically GTFO). Not sure it'll be a definite good for the MD in the long term.
Edit: yes, I am exactly watching at what EBANK did in order not to auto-compete-crush against "freelance" bond / IPO issuers. - Auditing and consulting

Oh VV =P
To get into ECR you just had to sign up to the forums and have one of us flag you (which I did when you signed up). There's no key, but there are instructions for making an account in the FAQ of the Closed Beta forums which you should now be able to see. Basically, you can do it all yourself.

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not.
There needs to be competition and diversity in the stock market, IMO.

Normally I would agree LV. With banking, I would like to see multiple banks. With trade operations, there should be literally dozens of operations. Etc etc. The issue with a stock exchange is just as we've seen with previous attempts: low traffic, lack of utility with low amounts of data, etc.
This is one of those cases where EVE may not be able to support more than one service volume-wise. It's probably also the reason why poker houses stopped appearing around the end of last year, as enough failed attempts showed that there just wasn't enough traffic for more than one. In both cases more utility comes from having a higher saturation in one place (A useful number of listings/buys/sells to play in, or enough people to fill games to play in, respectively).
I may be wrong, but neither LoW nor I have good feelings about the viability of multiple exchanges. Most likely, within months one would dominate and the other would die. Or in a worse case, both would suffer as the small pool of customers would be split basically handicapping both as well as the utility for customers. Instead of wasting resources like this, the group decided to work together and make the one exchange be as useful and clean as possible.
As much as competition is good, there is always the issue of just how much traffic EVE generates for certain activities given its current playerbase and what those players spend their time doing.

I am in agreement on this. Players would just be annoyed at having to look for spread out information.

Confirming that I plan to be consulting with ECR on sprucing up the site visually as well as providing my input into the ECR stock exchange feature set.
Also, I am in complete agreement with the above assertion. As the person who has by far put in the most time on EVE-Trade, going forward, this merger makes the most sense for the community as a whole.
And no one can spell my name correctly.

If by "by yourself" you mean the "send ISK to ingame corp and have account open", well, I did it and did not get neither an in game email nor a forum message. How am I supposed to activate the ECR login then?

VV, if you are having trouble, post a question on the forum. It's very straightforward and the answers are there.

Just confirming here that all above is true. This was a decision made based on our negotiations and talks earlier this week. Was by no means our first attempt to work together, but it was the attempt that set it in stone.
