Today I have been at the games convention in cologne and basically just decided to really go there as i knew ccp is there as well....
Sadly i must say that ccp¦s appearance there was really really bad imho. While even publishers of F2P mmos, where doing a lot for their fans in sense of entertainment and merchandising the ccp team which is there totally failed.
There were a whole of 3 ccp employees there who were sitting bored (at least that was the impression they made) in front of their screens and on any question i asked the reply was: "Go to the eve fanfest to find out".
The only merchandising article they had was a little card advertising the eve trial accounts, while the other publishers handed out T-shirts, posters and some of them even gave ppl the chance to win hardware for playing some mini games with them.
I allways used to be a fan of CCP and today was the 1st time i really was dissapointed or one could even say ****ed about how badly eve was being presented there.
It¦s all nice to create new stuff for eve, but when you have questions about it and get a reply like that... Not everyone has the time to go to the fanfast, even when they would love to. That really is not a nice way to treat your fans.
When people go to a convention they go there to see new stuff, and not the old stuff they already know and seeing how eve was presented there i hardly believe that many people, who do not know eve yet, are impressed by the game.
Well, i am not going to quit eve over it or will be ****ed about it for a long time.. Just see it as a little feedback and try to present the game in a way that shows how awesome the game really is.... next time.... |

What Darth see in cologne is reflected my opinion. CCP is only a money machine. They dont do a lot for the paying users. The lags are crook like the years before, main of the patches are bunk. Losses with the reason of server stability and so on. And anwers the petitions are precast. I will think about to pay in the future for a game without service.

I visited the gamescom aswell and i must admit with what ccp did show there they better hadnt show up at all.
After you come out of an overflood blizzard area with 3 big plasma screens and go along the upcomming aion game with a decent sized stage and lot of testing computers i found the big sign "ccp" above the heads.
What i found was a 3 x 2 meter *max?* area with 1 reception, 2 chairs, 2 desks and 2 tiny laptops.
Not only that from all the publisher on the gamescom ccp seemed to be the only one not being able to afford german personal *german convention after all* but also the personal was quiet bored and prefered to ignore the crowd by talking to each other and ignoring most attempts.
The only person that did a decent job was the girl at the reception table *which had to stand unlike the guys* which did smile even with the smelly air and nicely advised you to the flyers.
While she did a rather good job the 2 guys where logged on sisi with their isd chars flying gm fitted ships arround syndicate. Well thats ok.... but zoomed out to make the ship a dot in space is not how you wanna advertise eve. *see eve movies ;)*
The worst of all came than as they had to tab out of eve-online to show Dust movies. Tab out to show a decent ccp product with a nice advertisment and intro? No lets go to youtube thats easier.
My personal oppinion is ccp would have performed better by not showing up at all.

The main crew of CCP was in the business area from 18th - 22nd. Hilmar was sitting in there all the time. The crew in hall 8 were the german GMs, not really devs.

Top ten reasons CCP failed at a German convention:
[10] Had a smaller table than City of Heros "clan" next door
[09] Graphics were soooo 2008
[08] Glossy handouts were just color laser prints of login spalsh screen
[07] Jumpgate Evolution group kept launching lagbombs from the other side of the room
[06] Start Trek "collective" were giving away 30 and 90 day GTC's
[05] Monitors showing off gameplay were too full of chat windows to see anything of use
[04] Someone forgot to tell the convention workers people would actually visit their table which just interfered with all the pirating they had planned with their alts
[03] Toy Megathron model got pwnd in the first 5 mins after doors opened by some 12 year-old wearing an AC/DC shirt
[02] Stuffz handoutz = nonez
[01] With all that wienerschnitzel and room-temperature German beer the night before, everyone thought it was a Tuesday and they were really in the office at their desks

The gamescon booth was a lot bigger and fancier than that at GDCE.
