Since last Thursday's Apocrypha update, I've been having various issues with the mac client:
1) Graphics. Seems like a lot of missing graphics or failure to load. An example would be in the character creation screen / new character. The buttons to choose your RACE are there, but the rest of the screen is completely white. This issue appears elsewhere.
2) Mouse. The mouse seems to get stuck "ON", meaning, button 1 get's stuck "pressed". An example would be in the character customization screen / eyes box. The mouse gets stuck in the box -- client needs rebooting to fix it.
3) Sound. The sound in-game randomly shuts off. The music, turret sounds, engine noise. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it isn't.
EVE was running fine for me before the patch; iMac w/ lastest Mac OS updates.
Thanks.

Edited by: Yzman Shhan on 25/08/2009 20:09:28 2) Happens to me too, mostly when resizing or moving windows like the overview / ships window when docked. Sometimes I can unsticky the button by right clicking, some times not. Pressing esc and then clicking on close window usually finally solves the issue. Still, don't want to have a mouse button stuck if I need to get away from a gatecamp or try and scramble someone. Pretty much prevents me from doing PVP so I spin my ship in station instead...
Edit: running on an old macbook pro running leopard.

This is happening to me as well. The Mouse button turns on and when I'm trying to click the mission window on/off the God damn mouse button is just dragging the window around. I have to click Esc and then go back in and sometimes its still stuck (At this point I want punch someone in the face >.<). Everytime I'm about to open/turn in a quest I know I'm gonna have trouble :(

1) same here, also performance has decreased, not by a little bit (35/55 fps usually, now 20 when I'm lucky, sometimes spiking to almost 30)
2) this is really anoying yes, there seems to be a single position on the window which you have to click to get mouse control back again, and it isn't more then 1 or 2 pixels wide.
3) sound? no worse then it was.
Also, I have random crashes/freezes since the patch. Sometimes it can last up to 30 seconds before something happens again, or it just stays frozen. Whether I'm running one or two clients, or have something else running in the background or not, it happens randomly, once or twice every night.
I say roll back to the old Cider version because this made things only worse. (I run a MacBook Pro 15" late 2008, 2,66GHZ, 4gb using the Nvidia 9600 chip, running OS 10.5.8)

Hey there everyone. Yup i got alot of what you all have. not to beat a dead horse. 1) sticky clickin (if we can call it that) 2) new warp bubble graphics are ate up 3) and most horrible of all... NO VOICE! When in the audio option section of the options menu, the selection for an output device has a drop down of one selection "NO CHOICES". and on the input drop down all... and i do mean all of my audio device are there and doubled, even outputs. F'in crazy.
So to make a long story short no voice chatting for me until problem solved. Wrote a petition for this and they just told me to delete my cache, guess what. didn't work. CCP you are hurting my soul

Same problems:
Mouse does the permanent resize thing..
Client does not always re-engage when command+tabbed to desktop
Corp hangar takes forever to load. (Might be related to item database upgrade)
Sound and music shut off. Musicians must wander off or something.
Avril Levigne issue worsened during warp bubble travel and mission deadspaces.

Edited by: quarsh on 28/08/2009 10:17:53 Edited by: quarsh on 28/08/2009 10:17:05 I'm getting random crash problems since the update, game just exits which suggests a serious memory problem. Sound is also flaky and cuts in and out randomly.
Also get the permanent resize thing.

Edited by: Mutnin on 29/08/2009 20:48:23 I'm noticing a few problems since the update as well.
Seems some windows and scroll bars flake out at times. Sometime I can't scroll on a window with out a lot of issues. On some windows it will just start trying to resize the widow on it's own, even though I never wanted it to. It gets stuck and starts dragging the widow around.
However the most irritating of all, is about 90% of the time when I alt+tab out of game to post a kill mail or do something out of game. I can't get back in game again as it stops responding. Meaning I have to do a force quit then restart the game.
All of this started with 1.5 update.

I sent a bug report on mouse button sticking when resizing windows and the like, and got the response that they were having trouble reproducing. Have other people been bug reporting this?

It happens quite a bit when you're working windows near the EDGE of the screen.

Yes, its become a daily annoyance as I cannot have my fleet and broadcast windows arranged properly because of this and its a major effort just trying to release those sticky windows.

I know - it seems very odd that they're unable to reproduce. It seems I can reproduce a dozen times a night... on accident.

me too :( and I need to say that I'm afraid to enter in any kind of battle knowing that in any moments it can freeze. I see that a lot of people are experiencing this issues so, I hope the dev team will repair this soon.

Hi,
Running off a 2.86ghz 15" mac book pro and 30" cinema display with 4gb ram - mid 2009 version and currently on leopard (soon to move up to snow leopard.
I can almost time the 5 or 6 minutes between logging in and getting a message about the socket closing on me. I have a solid connection (50 mb/s) and everything else works perfectly. Eve is the only thing I am seeing issues with and it is driving me insane. Anyone got any fixes for this or is it from CCP's side?
Also wondering if I should use parallels to run windows and boot eve through windows 7. Any thoughts?

the closed socket issue is not due to bandwidth it is due to latency, see what your ping time is to the tranquility server 87.237.38.200

Same issues with me. Have a 15" MacBook Pro (from last year).
(copied from some posts above with a few edits)
Mouse does the permanent resize thing.
Client does not always re-engage when command+tabbed to desktop.
Avril Lavigne issue still around.
Client randomly crashes and I cannot submit a report (the reporting seems to get stuck and cannot hit "Cancel"...have to hit the red close button in upper left once it appears just to get rid of it.)
Laptop seems to heat up faster. Even locks up occassionally now. Used to only clock in at 86 degrees before patch, latest numbers top 97 degrees (that I've been able to measure...when it locked up, may have been even higher!)

I'll check when I get home tonight, but I think the stuck-in-resize-mode problem occurs when I click a button (eg: accepting a mission) while the mouse is still moving, and release the mouse button after the pointer has left the UI button.
Will update this thread if I can reproduce the problem, and will submit a but at the same time.

Mac OS X.5.6 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with loads of memory and decent graphics card:
1) Graphics are frequently messed up/missing 2) Sticky resize of windows is a frequent and major pain. Cannot believe CCP struggling to reproduce this common issue! 3) Audio is failing to work properly. Lack of fleet chat means that I am having to opt out of corp activities, ruining game play. Same deal as all the others have reported - sometimes is there, most often it is not. Have tried with umpteen settings, different USB headsets, mics, internal and external mics..
Really hope this is all resolved soon. Would appreciate some acknowledgement from CCP about these Mac issues and a possible eta on a Mac specific patch to sort it out. I can cope with the odd graphic glitch but sticky windows and NO/unreliable sound is making EVE unplayable. If all the PC users had these issues, I bet there would have been a patch out by now ;p

UI is totally borked. Selected UI element seems to lag or stick on items making playing the game pretty much impossible. I guess this what is being reported as a mouse problem. Before I wouldn't risk PvPing on the Mac client but now I can't even do my carebearing or update market orders with it. MBP C2D 2.2 GHz 2GB RAM. Leopard 10.5.7.

Edited by: SPACE L0RD on 07/09/2009 21:29:35 You guys should try trashing your Preferences folder in ~/Library/Preferences/.
I've been playing on a fresh install of eve on top of 10.6 and while I do have a couple of issues, it's been rock solid with no crashes or any of the performance issues that you guys are mentioning. I've been playing for hours in missions and fleet engagements with no issues. In fact the 1 bug I have is only the mouse/window sticky issue which is annoying I agree. Note: I have not tested Eve Voice yet.
Just remember to export your overview settings first and move them out of the Overview folder and somewhere safe before delete the prefs folder.
I don't know that it will help but maybe its worth a try?

I've been somewhat aimlessly faffing around with the config file settings and have found that the following settings seem to fix the mouse/UI lag problems and generally provide reasonable performance.
[macdrv] Desktop = N MultithreadedGL = 0
[d3dgl] DynamicVBO = N IndexVBO = N
Initially I just set the d3dgl options so it's possible that leaving those to their defaults and just turning MultithreadedGL off fixes it.

+1 on the mouse sticking down when manipulating windows here, its actually been around for last several updates.
Also warp tunnel graphics now look like complete crap - you can see where textures are cut into grids and it just looks basically amateur. Why was this even touched?
Another NERF update for Mac Users.
+1 vote for the next update to be a BUG FIX for Mac Users, with no new features!!!

LOL, got the mouse sticking problem whilst waiting to ambush a roving pack, we were situated at a gate, enemy on the otherside, I moved my selected overview window and it stuck to my mouse, cue dragging said window all around the screen to lot's of swearing clicking like a man possessed, ended up smacking my mouse on the table and I accidentally jumped thru the gate, with that pesky window still stuck to my mouse pointer, got ganked, managed to get my pod to a safe spot, still with the stuck window......
they scanned me down and I was safe spot hopping STILL with stupid window stuck and then I was dc'd and when logged back on found myself in a clone vat......
