And here we have today's clueless believer of generalized statistics. A good portion of those active in high sec are actually alts of players who have their mains in low, null and wormholes, the majority of those who are primarily high sec residents probably don't read the forums or feel the need to come whining like a tyre with a slow leak when they lose a ship and in more than likely are happy to accept the game as it is without wanting to change it to suit themselves.
It's only this contingent of entitled fluffies that dwell in high sec and see no reason to change their ideologies to meet the challenges of the game that the rest of us deal with that feel they should be catered too and keep telling us that all the subs that will be lost will cripple the game and CCP when in fact, more veteran players have probably unsubbed in the past 5 years due to ennui than will be lost by a group of pious, entitled fluffies 'taking their business elsewhere' which is already factored into CCP's plan for subscription numbers this year anyway.

Eve Online: still dying 9 years later.
Save it for when there actually is a statistically-significant drop in subscriber numbers. Until then it's just chicken-littles running around the forum crying because their hulk got blown up. I'm not saying it's impossible for subs to drop, Incarna showed that it is, but save it until something like that actually happens.

Also losing people who only play AFK and never participated in the communtiy at all is going to kill Eve... how?
How stupid are you? Do you have to try this hard to be this stupid or does it come naturally?
Your just an idiot to believe and say that all miners play AFK and never participated in the community. You do understand that selling stuff on the market is participating with the coummunity right?
The interface breaking the bots? Are you serious? You do know its not that hard to readjust the script to fix their bot programs correct? You act like these bots are not smart enough to make a change in their programs to adjust to the new changes.

You can look it up actually. The most popular bot was still broken on the 30th when I last checked, and may still be busted now. |

Its going to be funny watching all the tears of the gankers when they have nothing left to gank and are flying around in empty space.
That is what I think is the best thing about this whole issue. The gankers think this is helping EvE some how when in reality they are just making sure they have less and less targets to gank.
Most of the gankers would not know PVP if it kicked them in the face, they some how thing ganking an unarmed ship is PvP which is priceless. So much for EvE being "Hard" or a PvP game. It is worst then letting lvl 60s kill lvl 1s in other MMOs at least the lvl 1s can fight back. The Mining ships get nothing for protection.
I wish EvE was a true sandbox like some of you claim it is, if it was a real sandbox, miners could ambush gankers and make gankers think twice about messing with miners. In a Sandbox game, miners would equip guns instead of mining lasers and act like their were mining and let a ganker engage and blow them up which would be priceless but we all know you ***** gankers would cry if Miners could fight back without having to use a combat ship.
I am not a miner, nor do I live in High sec, this whole issue is nothing to me personally but I just find it funny how stupid some of you really are. |

well what can i say. last time ive been doing much in highsec is late 2007 i think. but what i see is happening now there is beyond anything that has ever been considered healthy for this game.

Reece Davis wrote:with the neverending hulkageddon going on, a lot of miners will quit.......which will lead to less mod's and ships being made, and higher prices of the mods and ships. the only way to counter the inflation is to make payouts worth more. if this keeps up, you could see ship prices doubling or even tripling. You see, that is the nice thing about the EVE economy, with less ships and mods being made the payouts increase automatically.
It is possible that we will lose some people from the mining profession, but as it becomes more and more profitable to be a miner they will be replaced. This time, however, the new generation of miners will be fully aware that an intergal part of the mining profession is avoiding or surviving combat situations. This is something that the current generation of miners has apparently lost sight of. When I check troll in the dictionary, it has a photo shopped picture of you standing somewhere in the vicinity of a point.
Also, I can kill you with my brain. |

I wonder how many miners would say your wrong. (too bad they don't read the forums) Actually I don't think I have ever met a miner that read the forums. (obviously some do but not many that is for sure) Cause if they are still mining it is obvious what they like to do in game and why they are still here. EVERYBODY KNOWS |

The reason people leave is the same reason I just keep coming back to eve.
The profound affect a player (or group of players) can have on other player(s) and the game, its just something about that. It entices me.
I come back that in the vain hope that one day I too might be a player that is renowned for doing something, or at least taking part in something that in someway affects the game.
No other mmo is like EvE, no other game is like Eve (save maybe X2/X3 and maybe X-Rebirth) in that the player(s) can have such a large impact on the game its self.
EvE is not going anywhere, people still pay to play failhammer online (warhammer) and WoW and other garbage MMOS that offer much less in almost every category when compared to EvE.
Eve was "going to die" back when I opened my first account back in 05, on my first PC I got from radio shack. (RIP account #1 for your details and email address have been long forgotten). Then I opened a second account in 09 (this one) and now I have a active alt account, and two inactive accounts that I lost the info on.
I already paid (in USD) for 4 months on this account and three on my current alt account. I may leave again (but I regret not keeping my sub/training up when I "quit" EvE) but the game has improved (in my eyes) so much between my first account, my 09 account and now.
EvE is not for everyone, sometimes it even pisses me off. The thing is, Eve just has that "something" that not even WoW, Rift or TOR (TOR was a huge joke) has. That "something" that keeps me coming back. Its the only other game that I go back to other than Iracing (my costly hobby).
Maybe its the content, maybe its the difficulty or maybe its something else.
Eve just has that "something" that no other game has, and sure I suck at the game but I always have a goal or a area I can try to improve upon. |
