Edited by: Ranger 1 on 20/10/2004 00:17:15 Agreed. I have to admit, I like my Ret more than my Vengence, but I still prefer my interceptors. If the Ret were to be given a missile turret as its 5th slot instead of a utility, OR be given a second mid slot I think that it would rise to very near the top of my list of favorite ships. A Ret pilot a few posts ago stated that its slow speed made the Ret an easy target. Hmmm, I have not found this to be the case at all. Against NPC's I like to orbit at 5k using Multi's and rarely get hit. A favorite tactic of mine against opponents trying to slip out to a further range is to quite simply charge straight for them. I do get hit more often this way (and soak the damage nicely), but my hits on them are significantly harder. I'm still training the assault frigate skill up (its only level 2 at the moment) but so far my best hit has been for 250... which is fairly respectable damage. I'd rather not discuss my PVP tactics at the moment, but they have had some small success.
The best thing I can say about the Ret at the moment is its a challange to fly, which is a dubious honor. While I won't write it off as useless, it could stand a small tweak to truly earn the respect of the Eve community.
(edit) Oh, while I have not manage to mount 4 Heat sinks on my Ret it will indeed mount 3. But flying it like that is a bit like playing with a loaded gun, it can cost you.
Kill the enemy, and break their toys. |

k, yes sry, you where complaing about medslots, quick question, just for to cure my curiosity, what exactly do you want to use in that medslot exactly?
What I want is 5 turrets and 2 mid slots.
Enyo, 4 turret + 1 missle, 2 mids
Wolf, 4 turret + 1 missle, 2 mids
I do not understand sacrificing a midslot for a 5th lowslot.
The retribution does not have the firepower to kill something before it can warp off. That is what makes it useless in pvp. It needs to warp scramble/web to do that. What good are you if you can't finish a kill? You can't just say, oh i made him warp out i won. You cannot claim victory unless the threat has been neutralized. He can come back and pick off other members of your corp/alliance and just run from you. To me that is a selfish and pointless way of claiming victory.
In addition to the above, i will once again say that all assault frigates need to be at least as fast as there tech 1 counterparts. No i'm not talking interceptor speeds here, i'm talking around 2km/s with mwd tops.
Is there anything a tech 1 frigate has over an interceptor? ANYTHING? No, but they do have 2 things better then assault frigates.
1. Speed
2. The ability to get past gate camps

I dont think so ;)
Well, in terms of solo pvp.
3 mids certainly helps a lot, yeah. 2 mids does not exclude you from solo pvp.
I don't bring my crusader into group situations unless i have to. I fly with a ruptor so if i get webbed it's like having your legs chopped off.
Flying solo, i have complete control over what happens, unless i **** up of course
So yeah, it has 2 mids but i really only like to go solo with it. ________________________________________________________

That doesn't make any sense.
If suppose a stilleto came in and started scrambling your bs, what would you want to come to your rescue, a taranis or a retribution with no mwd whos 30km away?
It's a good thing hes tanked right, because that really helps kill and defend the battleship, right?
Now, if you are going to say that the assault frig should be posted next to the bs are you suggesting that every bs have a 40mil isk assault frig guarding it?
Do realize that a frig ganking 7mil isk fully insured maller anywhere within 30km would turn that stilleto into a cargo container.
Useless.
