Reader response is a poor hermeneutic. If those are big words, it means "You deciding what others are saying is a bad means of interpretation" Might want to actually listen to what they are saying.
Every major alliance is shifting down from a fighting stance at least in some capacity before the release of Shiva. Attacking now is the most idiotic political, and economic move ever, and judging how well the FA has played both those games, do you honestly think they would do something so moronic now?
Good Grief Charlie Brown, Paranoia much?
I didn't decide anything. As I have already said, we had intelligence (apparently) that this was the case. And as I also said, FA exploitation of CFS members has gone on long enough anyway and that was the reason so many were willing to fight. This situation would never have arisen if FA had played the political game as well as you seem to think they have. No point in blaming the rioters, something is wrong when they feel the need to riot.
Civil Disobedience is still Disobedience.
You had "intelligence" eh? Well apprently not.. it would be absolutely catagorically stupid for them to do what you proposed. They know it too. What I find fascinating is the fact that CFS don't even deny having breached a section of the contract. All they say about it is "They were breaking rules" or "they were ripping us off".
Look guys, you sign a contract you deal with the consequences. The FA contract, like it or not, was followed by them.. with the only POSSIBLE exception that they could have defended more.. but it's not like you went to the council and asked.. all you did was fly off the handle and start shooting.. Thereby pretty much negating any possibility that FA were the "aggressors" here. --------------------------- We may have minutes, we may have hours, but in the end, we all push up flowers.

So you are saying that the FA followed the contract but actually they didn't but anyway it doesn't matter because some parts of the contract don't matter that much in any case?

As a guide for the future, I'd consider drafting any future treaties or agreements with 2 key features:
1) Objective performance measures - when terms like 'contribute to defence' are used they are unclear and open to interpretation. Things like 'will deploy X ships in system Y at time-slot Z' are provable objectively.
2) Insert a clause relating to the interpretation of Treaty/Agreement that specifically appoints an external, non-partisan Adjudicator to rule on any disputes that do arise. Obviously the adjudicator should be acceptable to both contracting parties.
This methodology works in the real world so there's no reason to put up with shoddy contracts in Eve when people take them so seriously.

Edited by: Raindrop on 18/10/2004 17:15:24 In such a contract both parties has the obligation and responcibility to maintain it. FA didn't.
When asked multiple times to get one of their corps to do something or FA to put more effort into it. The standard reply was that the FA council can't decide for a corp. They apear to be a democracy but the big corps rule inside FA and people don't dare to bump those in the head even when it comes to maintaining a contract with an ally.
That's what FA is. Empty words.

No, what you did was bow to peer pressure in these forums, fed quite rabidly by seasoned propagandists. It's a shame you can't see that FA aren't the only ones to have been using you.

Yes I know how FA is run, it is run by a small number of Corps simulating a Democracy by allowing everybody a vote. Like many modern dictatorships there can only be one way to vote and that is with Xanadu. If you vote against Xanadu you get the boot just like so many corps did in Apirl.
Originally by: Alkad Mzu Where do you think CA will go when they get bored with our 200 ship blob?
Do you think we will have forgotten by then?
These people are defending their home, they have done so alone for many months against much more experienced fighters than FA. FA on the other hand cannot sustain their blob. People will get tired of losing isk so the elite few corps can make a killing at the expense of a few peaceful miners.
Take hirr for example. When LMM first turned up to support Red Brigade in their fight against FA. hirr wasted no time in decaring war on LMM, they believed we were small and an easy target.
Were is your war now? Thats right you withdrew it because in your words 'we don't want our agent runners in empire getting hit'.
FA has no stomach for a prelonged campaign, which is what you will get from a bunch of deteremined, peace loving miners, when you try to kick them in the teeth once to often.
When LMM was formed it was as a reaction to an act of piracy by a Revolution member upon PA. We split off from Revol and formed a mining corp with the intention of mining in D7. After PA took D7 and denied us access, not only preventing our mining but also traping our property (because ironically of our connection to Revol) in the station and refused to discuss the issue we turned PvP.
FA have witnessed how a single mining corp pushed to far can give them a good hiding day in day out, are you really willing to risk an entire alliance of ****ed off miners?

UFS is here to keep free space free for all. We live up to the CFS Charter, unlike FA.
Also UFS taxes will float directly to defense of the regions and not as so far into FA pockets.
The only FA Corporation with valid interest beyond brute force is BA, if at all.
All locals that worked so hard for the regions will have minimum taxes and no docking fees as before. Only free loaders that try to profit from hard work of others will have to pay via taxes and docking fees.
StA will only negotiate if the outcome is FA leaving CFS Space and CFS has full souvereignity over the regions.

It was on my initiative we retracted the war, I could explain why but i cba. I dont really see how you can take our actions as a guideline for how FA works. ___________________________ Chicks dig Brutor's |
