I don't miss it at all, computers and games evolve.
At some stage you have to let go of the last millennium.

I agree 100%. That said, I do miss the classic for my underpowered 2003 Dell Laptop.
Although- I do offer a suggestion that I rarely see. Disable transparency. Go into the UI settings (right panel of general settings) and get rid of transparency effects. This added a few frames (don't laugh, but that's a 100% improvement).

hmm yes i do miss the classic client!
i'm using my thinkpad T42 whenever i'm not at home on my hyperspeed-supercomputer... and eve simply tells me whenever i try to start it *graphics card outdated* i KNOW my graphics card is outdated! but this laptop runs perfectly well, had no problems playin the classic client even in fleet fights! Now i have to use 3D analyze to be able to start eve, can oly change my skill training and that it. undocking would be pure, plain suicide!
So yes, i do miss my classic client for my Thinkpad T42 wich just won't die, so i can't buy a new one ;)

Its just one of those things, to have continued growth in the eve client, supporting new effect's better grapgics and to simplify the dev time (not having to develop for both code branch's) they had to cut the cord.
I know this leaves people on old laptops out in the cold, my old HP G7000 is one such thanks to its intel graphics card. Thankfully I have a 2nd more recent laptop that works ok but CCP had to take the hit, they are willing to loose customers with old hardware for the benifit of attracting new customers with fancier graphics etc.

I don't miss the classic client at all. I was able to do multiple eve clients with premium graphics. I didn't even have a high end video card. Just an NVidia 7300GT 512MB ram. It played eve premium fine. Now I think I have gone down in Video cards with the ATI Radeon x1650 but I have never been a fan of ATI. So to answer the question no, I do not miss the classic client. I know it is hard to let go of the past, but if you want to play games you have to evolve with the generations. No SLI is the thing. Next thing you know they will have Video cards that do SLI without the SLI. Just because I am ugly doesn't mean I can't be loved. |

Kinda sucks not being able to have a handheld pc that can play it any more though. It was nice using my phone's WiFi thru bluetooth to pull out the tiny handheld and switch skills (before the skill queue anyway). It worked well enough to mine with anyway if I hauled on another computer.
